The Abundance of Our Heart

In electricity there is a hot wire (positive) and a ground wire (negative). Depending on which we choose makes a big difference in our spiritual relationship and walk. If we are the positive then we will be all charged up with God's power. If we are the negative, then we will be grounded and unable to soar with the Holy Spirit and be used of him.

Have you ever been around a person that has a cold and is coughing and sneezing? I am sure that you have just like all of us have. What happens if you associate with them when they are sick like this and you do not take precautions? You most likely will end up catching the cold or flu that they have.

Spiritually this is also true.

I have a friend that seems to deal with this often. His life is full of lack in most areas. He tends to focus on all the wrong, faults, and failures of others. The Holy Spirit showed me that if I would hang around him that I would get what he had. I have to distance myself from him in those times and just pray for him. When we look at scripture we find:

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not

Each and every one of us sins. We all make mistakes. We all have faults. We can focus on the faults and failures of others or we can focus on the good in them like God does. If we focus on the bad, then we must have a correct heart and motive. We can focus wrongly and become critical or judging of them or we can focus on their fault out of compassion and concern and pray for them. We must be careful as to how we focus. We need to keep our heart right before God. If we are judging them then the Word says that if we judge that we will be judged.

These are a few statements that the Holy Spirit has told me over the years.

1. What other people do is not your concern. Just do what I tell you and leave the rest to me.
2. Focus on the problem, it never gets solved. Focus on Jesus, you will find that there was not a problem at all.
3. When we change the problem will automatically change as it is only a problem because of the way that we view it.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

We are supposed to be edifying others not tearing them down. We should build people up and not try to bury them. Years ago I had to learn this lesson. I was talking on the phone with a friend and God's presence was awesome. All the sudden somehow our conversation changed and we were talking about another person and the things that they were doing wrong. God's presence immediately lifted. He would not take part in our conversation. We realized what had happened and asked forgiveness and went back to talking like we were before and God's presence returned. The Bible says that:

Revelations 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

The accuser of the brethren is satan.

When we start putting people down, criticizing them or judging them, then we are walking in agreement with the enemy. No wonder God will not walk with us at that time. He will not serve with other gods. So if we want to have God's presence then we must allow God to deal with our heart so that our words are positive and come from a right motive and focus.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
