The truth

"God is spirit and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4:24. Truth is an essential part of God's nature. When we worship Him it's in truth and spirit. It is also the most natural thing to do and wonderful. It's in our design.

Jesus said "If you continue in my word, then you are truly disciples of mine and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free". John 8:31,32. Reading the bible continually will make us disciples of Jesus, and will feed us with the truth. The truth frees us from ourselves, from Satan, and from man. The truth in scripture is powerful and effective as a weapon against. For instance when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he replied to Satan with truth which was God's view. "The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. "Hebrews 4:12. When Satan tempts me and says "Think these negative, judgemental thoughts to others", the Holy Spirit reminds me "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" John 13:34, from the Bible. Words apt for the moment.

"When the Spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all the truth." John 16:13. We have the Holy Spirit's help in enlivening and recalling Bible verses.

Jesus prayed "Sanctify them by the truth: your word is truth." John 17:17. The Bible contains lots of truths. About right and wrong, good and evil. How to live and not to live. The whole Bible instructs and corrects. It is Holy Spirit breathed and is a pure, truthful book. The more we read it the more sanctified or holy we become. The stronger we become in faith, the more effective we are for God.

Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6. Since 1987 I have walked daily with Jesus and have had a personal friendship with him. I am absolutely sure he is alive now, is God and what is said of him in the Bible is true. Before, I tried other routes to moral living. My own righteousness, philosophies of life, but these did not end with me encountering God with certainty, nor did it give me the purpose that comes from knowing God directly.

"Buy the truth and do not sell it." Proverbs 23:23 Spend time reading the Bible and God will reveal precious truths to you.

When Jesus was in front of Pilate saying that he was of the truth, Pilate gave an odd reply, "What is truth?" John 18:38. Truth comes to the simple in spirit and to those who are open hearted to God. Jesus opened up a new way to God. Pilate could not see the real truth of God since he was of the world and had worldly views. In this world there is lots of view which some people call truths. Some people still think the earth is flat. For them it's a truth, but it's not an absolute truth. Truth is of God, and is perfectly straight. God is truth and there is no deviation from that in Him.

Lying, deceit, cover-ups are fruit of evil, all opposed to the truth. Jesus said "You belong to your father, the devil and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language for he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:44. Satan is a liar and lies are of him. Truth is greater than lies and carries much more weight. Truths go on forever, but lies will be cast away and burnt up. Words of truth are like shafts of light piercing the darkness. Speaking out truthful prophecies is like sending specific living beams of light into the future, or present. Lies weigh down a person. You can't live a double life of truths and lies together.

Truth shows up lies just as light dispels darkness. Truth quenches lies like a water hose puts out fires.

Satan's accusations at the saints are laughable, temporary to us and will end. Wait for God to restore your reputation. Satan's lies about us will not stand the test of time but God's truth about us will. Besides God is our friend and helper.

"Whatever is truethink about these things." Philippians 4:8. The Bible is a true book and Holy Spirit inspired. It is alive with truth brought to life by the Spirit of Truth. Think on the Bible. It will unburden you and give you peace and rest. Don't think on any words Satan says.
