A Clean Vessel

by stephanie reck
6/04/2014 / Christian Living

The Lord wants to use us to further His Kingdom. We are His vessels that He works through. God wants to purify us and make us pure, clean vessels He can operate through. If you have been purged and refined many times, this is a good thing. It may not feel good while you are going through the process, but God desires to use us as fit and clean vessels.

A clean vessel happens when we are purged of old sin habits and behaviors, and go through a refinement process. Refining is when anything that could trip us up for the service to The Lord will be dealt with. This is a process and it happens because we could easily stumble and fall if we serve The Lord in our old sin nature and in areas that need refinement.

God will show you the areas in your life that need to be dealt with, and He will give you the strength and grace to work through them. Many have been called to serve The Lord, but because of areas of sin and hindrances, they never reach their full potential in serving Christ. Yes, God can use anyone and at any time in their lives, but when you step out to serve Christ, it is a good idea that you have allowed God to make you into a clean vessel. When you have been purged and refined, the Holy Spirit can operate freely and unhindered.

What is it that God has called you to do? Have you allowed Him to cleanse your vessel for His service? Deal with the things that could cause you to stumble. The enemy would love nothing more than to pounce on your weaknesses and discredit your service to the Kingdom of God. How many preachers, televangelists, and ministers have you seen stumble and fall because of areas in their lives that were left unguarded and perhaps not dealt with. That is not to say if mistakes are made in ministry that we are done, quite the contrary, but we must be mindful others watch and observe us as Christians. It is important to be cleansed, so that we don't cause another to stumble. How often must this be done? Daily. We must continually take our issues before The Lord and allow Him to deal with us.

If we serve God hypocritically, meaning we tell others how to behave and yet ourselves are grieving the Holy Spirit by our actions and behaviors, then we may not be such a good witness. Let us purify ourselves from everything that will hinder our calling and purpose for serving Jesus Christ. Let us be clean vessels that Jesus can easily operate through, and be effective witnesses to the unbelieving world and the lost. We are His chosen, let us represent Him faithfully and let us honor Jesus by our words and actions. God has a purpose and a task for all of us, get ready and be prepared for his service; for God has chosen you to represent Him.

Jesus, humble your servants to serve you better and make us righteous, pure, and Holy before you. Let us not cause another to stumble because of our behaviors.
