LEN'S LINES --A Little Religion On A Positive Note By Len Granger
Walking In the Holy Spirit
When we as Christians are walking in the Spirit we have a totally different lifestyle than those that do not know the Lord. We have a mindset that we will serve and obey our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in everything we do each day.
Some people go to church regularly and have heard many sermons; however, they leave the Christian life at the church door. All week as they live in the ungodly world, they try not to stand out in their place of employment, or in business situations, or with people they come in contact. The Holy Spirit is not a part of their daily life as they have a mindset of doing what they need to succeed, all on their own.
Our first thought should be to ask the Lord through prayer for his guidance and protection, before we make any decisions of importance. Over the years I have found that decisions that were prayed about first were much easier to make as the Holy Spirit guided me through my trials and tribulations. If we walk close to the Lord and listen to the Holy Spirit, our Christian life here on earth is so much more rewarding. The Lord pours from Heaven unbelievable answers to our prayers with abundant physical blessings, material blessings and spiritual blessings .
Before our Lord returned to Heaven to be seated at the Right Hand of God the Father, we see in the Bible where he spoke to the disciples not to leave Jerusalem to spread the Gospel, as they had not yet received the Holy Spirit. Luke 24:49, "And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endured with the power from on high." We likewise have the Holy Spirit given to us as the Lord's servant to help us if we just call in prayer for his wisdom. The Lord knows the beginning and the end of every situation and He knows us better than we know ourselves.
We see in Romans Chapter 8, where the Spirit delivers us from the power of the flesh. Verses 5 and 6, " For they that are after the flesh do mind things of the flesh; but they are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Yes, if we know the Lord our life will reflect it to all those around us and we will spread the Gospel as the Lord tells us. Luke 16:15, " And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature." When we pray and walk in the Spirit, only then can we serve the Lord each and every day until he calls us home.
Trust this Sunday we will be singing and worshiping our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the church of our choice.
God Bless America
