4 Things To Watch In Decision Making

by Olawale Ogunsola
8/24/2014 / Relationships

Daily, tonnes of ideas pass through the heart of a man. From these come loads of decisions that are taken by him, after considering the pros and cons of the ideas.

Decisions directly dictate actions to take. These actions in turn author what a man becomes. In most cases, a man cannot be better than the quality of his decisions and actions.

As a result of this, there are certain times that are not good enough to make serious decisions because it is difficult, if not impossible, to make quality ones.

These times are:
1. When a man is angry.
Anger is only a letter short of danger; dagger is their associate. Evils emanate from decisions during an angry moment. It has led to murder, wanton destination of lives and properties on many occasions.

Scriptures counsel man, especially Christ's disciples, to be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath". So it is wisdom to heed this counsel so that there will be no reasons to lick fingers after a wrong decision and action that resulted from wrath.

2. When a man is sad .
An unhappy time is also unfit for making serious decisions because his ability to reason is low. He cannot see into the future clearly. Everything will look bleak. Hope will seem to be lost!

A time like this has seen many people commit suicides; they leave sorrow behind for their lovers.

A woman after she gave birth to a glorious bouncing baby boy, the joy of many homes, named him "Jabez" (meaning a child of sorrow) because she was sad when he was born.
It took the child time and prayer to change it.

3. When a man is depressed.
Moment of depression is never safe to decide on important matters. Decisions made during such moments, many times, may be wrong and of great consequences.

David in his time of depression, made a wrong decision to seek cover in the palace of an energy- the king of the Philistines. It was God's grace that saved him. He pretended to be a madman; so he was sent away.

4. When a man is happy.
Joyful and happy moments must also be watched carefully because it is possible to make wrong (rash) and regrettable decisions.

An example from the Holy Bible is that of King Herod. He was grossly impressed by a young woman's dancing steps that he promised to give her half of his kingdom or anything else.
The lady requested the head of John the Baptist on a platter which he gave wth regrets.

Therefore, you must be careful in all these moments when it comes to serious decision-making.
Never take a decision without involving your Maker through the Lord Jesus Christ and it will be well with you. It is even better to allow God to order your steps always.

NOTE
Scriptures references from New King James Version are:
1. Matthew 14: 6-11
2. 1Samuel 21:10-15
3. 1 Chronicles4:9-10
