Refined Southern Quilter
by PamFord Davis
11/03/2014 / Death
I am not handy with a needle; thread sees me coming and immediately tangles. The craft of quilting is waning but a remnant still saves cloth remnants. They choose a pattern, form squares or intricate shapes from the material and begin quilting. A cherished friend who enjoyed quilting recently passed from death to life everlasting.
She entered heaven's gates through abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus. With great pleasure, I write this brief tribute to Mrs. Joan Hardman, of Goodwater, Alabama. All who knew Joan will greatly miss her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service.
Joan was a refined southern lady, who worshiped her Lord faithfully. She lovingly served alongside her husband Billy, in churches where he served as pastor and in his Association Director of Missions role. As mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she beamed with pride in all their accomplishments.
She also took great pride in her home and beautiful landscaped yard of daylilies. Joan loved to hear from her friends and rolled out the proverbial welcome mat when any stopped by. I fondly recall one visit that I made by invitation. She was working on a quilt and wanted me to see how nicely the project was progressing. Like its crafter, it was a beauty 'to behold. '
"And John bore witness, saying, 'I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon on Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I have seen and testified that He is the Son of God.' Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, 'Behold the Lamb of God (John 1:32-34 NKJ)!"
