Sleepy
by PamFord Davis
11/24/2014 / Holidays
Fast forward to immediately following the Thanksgiving Day dinner. You have indulged, stuffing yourself with turkey & dressing; you push away from the table.
If a recliner, couch or comfortable bed beckons, do not go on a guilt trip. It seems that turkey contains tryptophan, serotonin, and melatonin. Forgive me for medical jargon.
The trio in turkey produces a calming effect; many get very sleepy after the big Thanksgiving meal. There are times when we can't keep our eyes open.
"Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, 'Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Mark 14:37-38 NKJ)."
