Averting Falls

It's inevitable; shoelaces come untied.

I vividly recall my navy blue lace-up canvas PF Flyers from the elementary school era. Those sneakers were my pride and joy; the embossed PF on the heels matched the initials of my name.

After dressing for school, I'd put on my white crew-socks and sneakers. Using the two-loop bunny method, taught to me by Dad, I would tie my shoes and then double tie them. It would seem that I had laced my PF Flyers securely for the day

"Tie your shoes before you trip and fall!"

Teachers and parents are always on the alert for hazards. Apparently, they not only have eyes in the back of their heads but an extra pair peering downward toward children's feet. I do not remember ever tripping over untied laces and credit my parents & teachers for averting falls.

As a Christ follower, I honor Him as the cornerstone. Yet, the unbelieving who have fallen for Satan's deceptions will stumble, trip and fall.

"For it stands in Scripture:
Look! I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and valuable cornerstone,
and the one who believes in Him
will never be put to shame!
So the honor is for you who believe;
but for the unbelieving,
The stone that the builders rejected
this One has become the cornerstone,
A stone that causes men to stumble,
and a rock that trips them up.
They stumble by disobeying the message;
they were destined for this (1 Peter 2:6-8 HCS)."
