Squabbles

Some couples strengthen their relationships through occasional differences of opinion; others collapse under similar circumstances. There is no pat answer as to why the reaction to conflicting views is so different. Memories of surmounted challenges are a great asset. Knowing we are still standing after a stormy squabble is in itself a source of stability.

In any relationship, the involved are susceptible to communication breakdowns; unconsciously, we distance ourselves and drift apart. Psychologists herald the benefits of strong support systems. If we build our relationships, marriages and homes upon God, His support system will sustains us.

"Therefore, God's chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so also you must [forgive]. Above all, [put on] lovethe perfect bond of unity (Colossians 3:12-14 HCS)."
