Past, Present and Future

by Steve Countryman

Have you ever wondered why you were born at this time and place on earth? Why now and not two hundred years ago? Why now and not twenty-five years from now? Because you are part of God's plan. God chose you before time began! You were chosen to be born at this time and at this place. You are part of His plan and you are here to fulfill the destiny that God has for you now! God uses man to fulfill His purpose here on earth. God uses men and women and both saint and sinner alike. It is the influence that you have and leave on others. The good and bad influences. God uses His transcendent glory to turn the sinner and all bad situations for His glory and kingdom. His goal is that none should perish but have everlasting life. That the sinner would turn from their sinful ways and turn to God!

The past is past, the present is now and the future isn't here yet! How you handle your past dictates your present. What you do and decide in the present dictates your future. Your future is based on your present that will soon be your past! Your past is good for referencing and is a good learning tool. Your past shows where you have been. Your victories and your defeats, how far you have come is seen in your present. How much farther you must go is found in your future. If you allow your past to trap you then your present will be dictated by your past and will rob you of your future. Everyone needs to be delivered and set free from bondage of sin, un-forgiveness, snares and generational curses of your past. Your deliverance can only come through Jesus Christ. Your present is what you control now. It is your decisions that will help decide your future.

A good simple example is you drive down a straight road, you look in the rearview mirror to see where you have been, your past. You look around you as you drive and you see where you are now, the present. You look way down the road and you see where you are going, the future. The path that you are on in the now quickly moves into your past. The past is what it took to get you to the present now and the present now points to the path ahead and into the future.

The influence that you have on others and on your surroundings is what is important. Satan wants you to only think about who you can abuse or curse today to get whatever you must have to satisfy your lusts. That is the negative influences that people have on their surroundings. If your friends and acquaintances that you hang around with always want to do what you know to be wrong then that's the negative affect your surroundings can have on you. God expects you to be a blessing to people everyday. You represent His kingdom. That is the positive influence that you have on others and on your surroundings. God's Shekinah glory shining through you everywhere you go. Through everything you do and everything you say!

What can tear down or build up and doesn't use any tools to do it? The tongue! We are created in His image. God created all things by speaking them into existence. You have power in the words that you speak including your idle words. By the words that proceed out of your mouth, you have power of curses or blessings. You can take someone who has a history or past of sickness and disease and in the present pray for them in the Holy Spirit by prophesying their completely restored future, "speak of those things that are not as if they were"! By prophesying you allow God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to take the future and move it to the now, the present. The result is the lame walk, the sick recover and dead are risen! That is why your walk is more empowered when you prophesy! 1 Corinthians 14:5 "I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues," By using the gift of prophecy you release the power of the Holy Spirit to bring the future into the present. What a way to influence those around you and your surroundings everyday!

When Jesus healed the sick, the sick weren't the only ones who were impacted by His healing touch. Friends, families, neighbors, town folk, visitors, churches, His disciples and city officials were all affected by His healing touch. When the demon possessed were set free and the dead risen the people that were impacted were many. There were mainly two types of people that were attracted to Jesus because of the healings, signs and wonders. The spectators and those who were really interested in knowing about Jehovah God and His kingdom! To the spectators this was a sideshow, a form of entertainment or a magic act. Luke 11:29 "As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah". We as Christians, who are God's representatives here on earth, are to have the mind of Christ to impact our environment and our surroundings for His kingdom everyday. Not letting our past trap us, not worrying about the future that isn't here yet but to impact and influence those around us now in the present! That is why you ARE HERE!!
