3 Reasons Why Life Is An Adventure

by Theresa Vogel Millward
3/30/2015 / Devotionals

"People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering." - Saint Augustine

What kind of adventures have you been on lately? Is it traveling that toots your horn? Do you enjoy maneuvering mountains? Or is basking in your backyard watching the busyness of birds and bees adventure enough for you? Whatever path to adventure you take, there is always a risk. Life is a risk, but well worth it.

Webster's Dictionary defines adventure as "an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks." The word can also mean "an exciting or remarkable experience."

Many times you simply need to walk in faith. You just can't always play it safe.

I tend to look at life as an adventure. Here are 3 reasons why life is an adventure:

Each day is a new slate. If you made mistakes yesterday, you can start anew today. You can try again and make your day right.

Each day brings something new. You might make a new friend, see something new, or come up with a new idea.

Each day is a gift from God. If you wake up in the morning, and you are still here on planet earth, there's a reason; you need to fulfill your purpose. God's has more for you to do. If you're not sure what that is, ask him.

Proverbs 3:5 tells us that we are to "trust in the Lord with all our heart." Jesus calls us to live life with courage and faith in that we are not to avoid personal difficulties, but pursue the life that God has set before us. Our lives are not to be spent living in a cave.

The Lord wants us to embrace life. He wants us to live every day for him no matter what happens. He will be with us through all the "bumps in the road" if we will only put our trust in him.
