While The Church Slumbers

You have probably seen videos where someone has fallen so deeply asleep that they are not easily awakened. That is when friends and family take advantage of them by putting make-up on them and drawing funny faces on them while they sleep and they don't even wake up.

Sadly today's church has fallen into a deep sleep. The world slips deeper into sin, wicked and vile living while the church slumbers. We Christians are the church! The church has compromised itself right into a deep coma and may not wake up in time. Abortion that has claimed the lives of over fifty million babies here in the United States still thrives. For the sake of "choice" but in reality it's for convenience and poor judgment. Homosexual marriages legalized so no one is offended or discriminated against except God, His Word and the nature He created. "Alternative lifestyles" of homosexuality is being taught to grade school children as young as 5 and 6 years old in some schools.

The Bible is not allowed to be preached in public because it is considered "hate speech". Chaplains in the military are not allowed to use the name of Jesus in prayer. Prayer is not allowed in public schools and neither is the reading of the Bible. But teaching and encouraging students to read and study the Koran is allowed and mandated in some schools. All while the church slumbers.

The removal of the Ten Commandments from government buildings continues. The removing of all Christian influence and evidence from history books and from quotes of the founding fathers. Where conservatives, Christians, Tea Partiers, veterans, patriots and lovers of the United States of America are considered terrorist. Where the rights of individuals granted and guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America are slowly being stripped away. Thousands upon thousands of Christians are being slaughtered around the world and the church slumbers.

Amazing how involved the early churches of the colonies were back during the revolution and founding of the country. Where pastors didn't just preach sermons on the Bible but spoke up against British leadership and governmental interference in their lives and their religions. They were actively involved in the militia and governmental policies and politics. Yes, of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence four of the signers were current or former full-time preachers, and many more were the sons of clergymen. "Separation of church and state" was never intended to keep God and religion out of government, if so then why were these 4 pastors allowed to sign the Declaration of Independence? It was to keep the government out of religion! Freedom of religion not freedom from religion.

Today's church has fallen into a deep sleep. God has already started shaken to awaken His church, but sadly the church still slumbers. It's like a family sleeping at home. In the middle of the night their dog starts barking non-stop. The father of the house wakes up to see why the dog is barking. He walks to the other end of the house and finds the dog barking at the garage door where smoke is billowing in. He feels the door and it's to hot to open. The father starts going through out the house trying to wake everyone and warn them about the fire to get out. He enters his oldest son's bedroom. He is shouting his name but his son doesn't move. He shouts louder but still no movement. He goes over to the bed and starts shaking his son but his son won't wake up. Finally out of desperation he slaps his son on the cheek and wakes him up. He didn't want to slap him but since he loved him and wanted to save him he had no choice.

That is where God is with today's church. If the "shaken to awaken" doesn't wake up His church then a severe slap is coming. What is tragic is that even after the slap occurs there will be those who refuse to wake up even to their destruction.

Back after 9-11 there were a lot of people across America and on TV asking the same question"Why did God let this happen?" Some of those who asked that included "Christians". Later Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" Anne Graham gave this response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

1 Thessalonians 5:6 "So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober." Revelation 3:2-3 2"Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you." Luke 21:36 "But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

It is time for the church to awaken from its slumber. Church cannot continue to be a social gathering place. It cannot continue to be silent ignoring the evil wickedness that abounds. It cannot afford to continue believing that if the church stays out of politics then politics will stay out of the church. That is a lie straight from hell! Politics and government is where laws are made and changed. It is where freedoms are destroyed in the name of tolerance, political correctness and compromise. It is that lie that has allowed the evil and wickedness to permeate our government, our country and our lives. All while the church slumbers. Isaiah 7:9 "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." "But what can I do?" It starts with prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Time to wake up church!
