A Novel Idea

We hear so much these days about the gay/lesbian subjects and the varying views concerning them, I felt that just maybe this may help some religious leaders to change their thinking a little and their priorities.

First of all what is considered sin? Scripture tells us that:

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I know this may be hard for some to consider but what is sin to one person may not be sin to another. If God has convicted you of something and you do it anyway then to you it is sin. If the Holy Spirit has not convicted a person that what they are doing is sin, then to them it is not sin. We seemed to forget that change comes as the Holy Spirit convicts people of their wrongdoings, not man. Remember the scripture:

We also read in James 2:10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

The Bible says that:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

How can a person that is operating their life accept the idea that being a homosexual or lesbian is wrong unless the Holy Spirit gives them the revelation? We each have done things and did not realize that it was wrong in God's eyes until he gave us the revelation by opening our eyes to truth. Shouldn't everyone be allowed the same? We cannot convince a person in the natural as it takes the Holy Spirit with them just like it did us. All of our religious efforts really solve nothing except make people not want what we have. We can put people under the law but man is still having the same problem that they did before Christ. They are unable to keep the law in the flesh. We can try to dictate what is right or wrong yet we fail to realize when we do it by the flesh it is condemnation. When the Holy Spirit does it, it is conviction.

If I am reading scripture correctly (James 2:10) if I sin in one area I am guilty in all areas. I obviously sin even when I don't sometimes know it (I can say this easily once I read Isaiah 30-31 which talks about how that when we trust in man or in our flesh we are in rebellion. Scripture says that rebellion is sin. When we trust in anything other than the Holy Spirit God says that we are in rebellion). Though I consider homosexuality and lesbianism wrong and a form of perversion, I also consider people that make this worse than any other thing like murder, judging, rebellion, doubt, and unbelief etc., that it makes them no better. Sin is sin whether it is one thing or another. I do not like the spirit behind some sins as it seems to turn my stomach, yet I know that God does love each and every person though he may not condone their actions.

We can look at each other's dirty laundry and end up being a total loner as we all have dirty laundry. There is only one remedy for all of this that it seems the church has overlooked or just forgotten. We can focus on all the dirt of mankind or we can focus on bringing the presence of the Lord back into the church. When God is allowed to run things and the Holy Spirit is given complete control, then the ones that God chooses to touch and change will get fixed. We cannot talk someone into it. We cannot shame a person into being different. It takes the Holy Spirit to convict and empower a person to change. We cannot even change our self so why do we promote that others are required to do so? They need the Holy Spirit just as much as we do. Did we save our self? Did we heal our self? Did we deliver our self? No of course not. So then why do we expect others to be able to do it when we couldn't? If we could just love people where they are and bring them into God's presence then they would become what God chooses for them to be, not what we choose. The Holy Spirit once told me this:

"What other people do is not your problem. Just bring them to me and I will change what I want to change". Doesn't that make so much more sense than us trying to change people? God is able, we are not.

So bottom line we need to start focusing on what it takes to bring God's presence back instead of just being religious and legalistic. It takes His presence and power and us just being obedient to His voice. This is the only way anyone will change or win. If God is not upset with what a person does than we need to learn to agree with God. God does things in His way and time. He does not change people against their will. He changes their will as they cry out to Him so change may not come as fast as we would like for it too. We must learn to be loving and tolerant of others even when they do things that we do not approve of.

The church has obviously forgotten who they are and the power that God gave to them. The only reason that sin is rampant is because the church has not done the prayer and warfare needed to keep the ruling spirits away from the people. The enemy comes in when the church becomes passive. We wonder why things have gotten so bad. If the church had not thrown down the keys to the kingdom a long time ago we would never have been in this mess. The same thing that keeps the enemy at bay is the same thing that delivers people from the snare that it has now placed people under. Unless we do the spiritual warfare so that the blinders of the enemy come off the peoples eyes, they will never be able to see from God's point of view. The natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:14). It is called using your God given authority in Jesus Name to tell the enemy what he can and cannot do. The church has given him free reign so what else can we expect?

I know this is a Novel idea but there is no other way for the church to stand and win. Until we decide we want God's presence and power more than our own agenda and allow him to rule the church we cannot win. God's way is the only way. Is it not time to learn what His way is? Our ways have obviously not worked. They looked nice and religious but were powerless to accomplish anything. We have had a form of godliness but have denied his power for way too long.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
