When We Move

by Steve Countryman

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!"

Being "born again" means that you are now a new creature not the old you. A Christian is someone who is "Christ-like". When you move about you do so as that new creature. New habits are formed and old routines disappear. That is the Holy Spirit at work in and through you changing you from glory to glory.

It takes faith, trust and obedience to move as you are led by the Holy Spirit. The old you thought only of yourself the majority of the time. Satisfying your own thoughts and desires were your priority. Caring for and loving others as yourself was beyond your capabilities.

As a new creature in Christ when you move starts with you. God won't force you to do anything. If you want to experience Christ in you then YOU have to move. You must take the first step to step out and step up. Jesus is waiting for you to move. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you but it is ALL up to you! Praying to see God move in and through you doesn't happen by itself. He waits for YOU to make the first move then hold on! The leading of the Holy Spirit and studying God's Word will guide you so that you don't run ahead of God.

There are tools that are available to each of us to help us move. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Grace in the Bible is represented by the number five. So anytime you see a list of five things in the Bible most of the time they represent God's grace. Grace is the enabling power of God's truth in your life. Anything that God asks of you He will empower you and give you the grace needed for you to do it!

Examples of God's grace made available to you are passion, courage, boldness, zeal and compassion for others. Praying for these five tools will enable you to move. They tie well with the giftings of the Holy Spirit and will anchor you to God's Word, will and Spirit. Passion, courage, boldness, zeal and compassion all have on thing in common, they are all motivators. Moving in the Spirit allows God to move in you, to you, with you, for you and through you. We are called to be spillers of the Holy Spirit not containers. Containers become stagnant because there is no movement no spilling. Spillers always need a fresh in-filling of the Holy Spirit.

For you to impact your surroundings as that new creature you need to move. To move by the Spirit as the Spirit leads. To move in God's timing not your own. To move with love and understanding that God's Word provides. To move in the giftings of the Holy Spirit. To move as God needs you to do so and not leaning on your own understanding. We are in the last of the last days and God is releasing the biggest outpouring of His Holy Spirit that the world has never seen. It will move like an enormous tsunami with overwhelming power.

Joel 2:28-32 28 "And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. 29 Even upon the menservants and upon the maidservants in those days will I pour out My Spirit. 30 And I will show signs and wonders in the heavens, and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. 32 And whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered and saved, for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the remnant [of survivors] shall be those whom the Lord calls."
One of the definitions of yield isto give place or precedence : acknowledge the superiority of someone else. As we are to bear good fruit then you shouldn't be surprised to know that another meaning of yield is to be fruitful or productive.

Moving in the Holy Spirit takes your participation and willingness to do so. You must be willing to yield to the Holy Spirit. Yield to the promptings, nudgings and moving of the Holy Spirit. Yielding and moving is your faith in action! Just as you have to be positioned to be blessed by God you also have to be positioned to be used by God. Pray that God will give you passion, courage, boldness, zeal and compassion and activate them in your life as you move in the Holy Spirit. Gods will is fulfilled in each of us when we move!
