"What Are You Going To Do About It?"

by Steve Countryman
6/29/2015 / Christian Living

After being bullied, pushed around, told to shut up, mocked, called names and verbally abused the bully will often say "what you are going to do about it?". It is not meant so much as a challenge but a mocking of your inability to defend yourself or lack of willingness to do so. To make you feel helpless and hopeless. They then feel more empowered, encouraged and justified in the way they treat you.

Now what I have just described is not what just happens on the playgrounds but in our daily lives. It is what our government leaders, representatives, elected officials, special interest groups, lobbyist, Supreme Court justices, state officials right down to the local school boards are doing to the American public across this great land.

Bulling is now considered to be harmful and not socially acceptable behavior. It is not politically correct to allow or even overlook such actions. But it is totally acceptable behavior to treat the American public, conservatives, Christians, veterans, Tea Partiers, traditional families, the poor, the homeless and unborn babies with contempt, hatred and violence.

Total lack of reverential fear of God, His Son and His Word. It is the ignoring and abusing of the governing rules and laws set down in the Constitution of these United States. Those who are constantly trying to remove all references to God and the Bible from ALL government buildings and venues. They are not satisfied with just eliminating prayer and Bible reading from all public schools but insist that schools teach about the Muslim religion and the Koran instead. Amazing how they scream at the top of their lungs "separation of church and state" when a group of school kids want to have a Bible club on campus but have no problem with the teaching of the Koran in schools!?!

Fear of offending other religions, countries, beliefs and cultures to the point that our armed forces overseas are required to celebrate our nations independence day in June instead of July 4th . So as not to interrupt the Muslim holy month of Ramadan that will be going on at the same time.

The out right disregard for propositions voted into law by an average of seventy percent of the American public in most states stating that marriage is a union between one man and one woman. Disregard for the states ability to govern independently as mandated in the Constitution. Removing the voice and vote from the American public along with as many freedoms and rights as possible.

The "dumbing down of America" is what they are shooting for. Hoping to increase the number of "uninformed", (stupid), voters. Targeting the children is there current goal. If they can successfully brainwash, indoctrinate, mold, reshape and retrain American children then they can control the future. It has already begun across the U.S.. Starting in kindergarten, children are being taught the difference between regular families and families with Gay parents. "Gender identity, sexual orientation and family life education classes" are being taught to children starting at the sixth grade. So they can decide what they want to be, straight, gay, bisexual, transgender or anything in between is "okay". All under the guise of diversity and tolerance. But they themselves are not tolerant at all of anyone with opposing views. They call them names, throw insults and slap labels on them.

Luke 17:1-2 1Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. 2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble." This is what Jesus said of the wicked and perverted people that would try to get children to sin. How can we the children of the Most High God continue to sit quietly by and do nothing? We can't call ourselves Christians, imitators of Christ, and continue to ignore and condone in silence their sinfulness forced upon us.

"So what you are going to do about it?" "But what can I do? I'm only one person." That's an easy excuse and has been over used for too many years. We all, who call ourselves Christian or Christ-like, are endowed and blessed with one of the most powerful weapons of all time. One person can make a difference if you are willing and obedient. Consider the young boy David from the Bible.

The Bible gives a great example of a famous bully. He represented a nation who was going to war against Israel, proving that politics and religion do cross paths. His name was Goliath and he stood about ten feet tall. 1 Samuel 17 tells the story of David and Goliath. 8 Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, Why have you come out to draw up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves and let him come down to me.

9 If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants; but if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us. 10 And the Philistine said, I defy the ranks of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. 11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.

16 The Philistine came out morning and evening, presenting himself for forty days, (mocking Israel, their army, leaders, king and their God). 50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck down the Philistine and slew him. But no sword was in David's hand. 51 So he ran and stood over the Philistine, took Goliath's sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their mighty champion was dead, they fled.

I used to get frustrated and upset about all of the wicked things that continue to escalate in my country. I felt helpless and hopeless to do anything to help battle against it. I tried calling and writing my congressmen and senators but was blown off each time. I have signed petition after petition to offer my support. All well and good but still not enough. I prayed and asked for guidance when the Holy Spirit reminded me what had been available to me all along. It is powerful when used correctly. It carries the authority of heaven when declared out loud from the Bible. And it is called prayer!

When you think that nothing can be done and it is beyond you to fix it, that's when you realize that it is never beyond God. You always can pray about it. The easiest way to take down a bully is to pray for them! They cannot escape the power of Father God in your prayers! Pray for our government leaders. Pray for our constitution. Pray for your neighbors. Pray for your friends and family. Pray for our soldiers here and abroad. Pray for Holy Spirit guidance and direction. And pray for our country to repent and return to God the creator of our country!
