Another Gospel

What is the gospel of Jesus Christ? Have you ever considered that just maybe the church and many Christians are following "another gospel"?

The gospel is that Jesus came to earth then died on the cross and shed His blood for all of our sins. If we would repent of our sin, accept his sacrifice and forgiveness that we would be saved or born again. Jesus did this so that we might have true life. The gospel is about losing our life to find it. The gospel is about dying to self and allowing Jesus to live in and through us.

What did Jesus tell us about why He came? He said:

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Would you not agree that Jesus was our example? If we are:

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Luke 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

After Jesus had been in the wilderness for 40 days the devil came and tried to tempt him.

Luke 4:
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The devil attempted to tempt Jesus. Jesus knew that life did not come from the things which a man could posses.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The devil did not or could not trick him. Jesus already knew where life came from. Jesus did not come to feed his flesh. He came to do the will of the Father which sent him. He came to please His Father.
So consider this. Jesus was our example. Once we are saved we are supposed to be crucified with Him and no longer live. The life we now live should be the faith of Jesus Christ living in and through us. We are dead to self. We are supposed to be dead to our flesh. Our will should be to do the will of the Father and please him. Our chief desire should only be to fulfill whatever plan the God has for us. Our life is no longer ours. We gave up our life when we got saved. Yet, what is preached most everywhere these days? It is preached that it is all about us. It is preached that we seek God to satisfy our flesh. It is about we want instead of what God wants. I have such a problem anymore when I hear so many asking God to bless what they want or what they want to do. Is there any Christian that cares more about what God wants than what they want to satisfy their own lusts? Does any Christian or church cry out to God to find out what He wants for them? Are there any willing to give up their own desires and will so that God may fulfill His will in and through them?

We are told:

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The lust of the flesh is not just a sexual lust. It can be anything. It can be money, power, cars, houses, vacations, or anything this world has to offer. When you walk in the Spirit, you no longer have any concern for these things. Your concern is only to follow and do what God desires. The devil has tricked the church and many Christians with "another gospel". This gospel is straight from the pit of hell. This is NOT the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is what the devil tried to convince Jesus of after his forty days in the wilderness. The church and Christians have not been smart enough to do what Jesus did. Jesus said: Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Instead we bought the lie.

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Is it any wonder that for the most part churches are dead and powerless? They are believing a lie and serving another gospel. The is no power in that gospel. That gospel is a gospel of the devil. That gospel is a deception from the pit of hell.

2Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The power comes when we die to self. He that loses his life finds it. The power comes when we are more concerned about what God wants and He then empowers us when we surrender and are obedient to his will. It does not come when we think our life is to be a life of pleasure that only feeds our flesh and not our spirit. Jesus did not give His life so that we might have a life of pleasure feeding our flesh which only keeps us from walking in the Spirit and following the leading of the Holy Spirit as He did. Maybe you wonder sometimes why God does not answer your prayers for things. It is because those things do not add to your life even though you think that they would do. Those things keep you from real life. Feeding the flesh does not cause it to die. Feeding the spirit is what is needed to bring to you the life that God intends. Jesus saved us to walk in the spirit so that He could still do the works of the Father that sent him. Jesus is supposed to be living through us. His plan and purpose has not changed. He still wants to use us with the same power He had in the Holy Spirit. He cannot if we are living our life to satisfy our flesh.

Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

When we are walking in the Spirit and Jesus is living in and through us the cares of this world mean nothing anymore. Paul learned to be content with or without. We are complete only in Jesus. We lack no good thing when we are in the Spirit. Our only concern is pleasing Him. The only time we feel like we lack is when we get over into the flesh. The flesh is never satisfied. It always wants something. That is a total lie. Having or getting what the flesh wants only brings temporary satisfaction. One minute in the Spirit is amazing as all the things we think we want in the flesh just disappear. We don't even consider asking for them or really think about them. We are just so thrilled and complete in His presence nothing else of the world matters. If we could have a church like that don't you think that just maybe we would experience the power of God and all the sin and crud that the world has taken on would get changed as the Holy Spirit convicted and cleansed people?

Can we not as a church drop the "another gospel" that feeds the flesh and get on with the true life and business at hand of walking in the spirit and pleasing God instead of ourselves? Will we ever realize that life is not in the abundance of things which we possess but only in the Spirit?
