Scripture cannot be broken

by Michael Hume
9/06/2015 / Christian Living

"Scripture cannot be broken." John 10:35

God's word is true, meaningful, straight and trustworthy. It can't be improved upon or twisted to suit man.

Take this verse for example. "Physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8. If you try turning that round to say physical training is worth more than godly training, you are trying to twist God and that is impossible. "Do not add to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar." Proverbs30:6. Adding to God's words is folly.

God is infinitely wise, and far brighter than Einstein, and Solomon, and every genius who lived and will live. He has given a lot of thought to the exact verses in the Bible. "Every word of God is tested." Proverbs 30:5. He has deliberately put the Bible books together, as an Author who has measured, weighed and pondered each part to great depth and precision, to deliver the meaning intended by Him.

Imagine how Cervantes wrote with such skill and imagination, or Solzhenitsyn with the precision of a mathematical brain, or Steinbeck as one who really knew his craft, or any type of writer you like. They would have put a lot of thought into their writing. Or take your own writing when you write a piece for others to read. You reflect, gather material together, and weigh it up to see if it all fits. How much more so does God do this, and with a far finer brain than ours and a lot more foresight. That's why scripture is relevant though all the ages of man.

On another personal and specific level, the promises, visions and hopes God has given you await completing. God also fixes those things He says to you, and He will bring them about. In His time and way. God is truthful, honest, upright and most trustworthy, and never lies. Never doubt what God says to you.
