Wondering Why.....

Wondering why....

Long time Christian women wear mini skirts and show cleavage (or very tight clothing etc) when most know what the Word says about modest dress and apparel. Most also know that guys are wired differently than we are and are really into "visual". Do they want to be lusted after? Do they want to cause a brother to stumble?

Matthew 5:27-28
[ Adultery in the Heart ] "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery. 'But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

1 Timothy 2:9
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,

Why do long time Christians who are grounded in the Word think it is appropriate to imbibe in alcoholic beverages on a regular basis - write about it on social media for the whole world to see (their under age children, their unsaved friends etc) while giving all the impression that this is normal and natural? Most of us who have done any drinking in our lives learn quickly and probably all too well what alcohol does to thought processes, common sense and inhibitions... Why would we hand our enemy a whole arsenal of ammunition to use on us to make us trip, stumble and fall?

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

Why do some seem to want to walk as close to the edge as they can while saying they love Jesus? Why would we choose on a regular basis to do things that are the same things which sent Jesus to the cross to die for on our behalf ~ sin.

1 Corinthians 6:8-10New King James Version (NKJV)
8 No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Why would a vintage gal, who was not born teething on a Bible, but came the long way around, bring things up like this? When she knows people will react strongly and probably negatively? Well, because time is short ~ all we need to do is look at the evening news and the last chapter of the book to get an idea of how short. God is going to start judgment with His church. We need to be accountable and very serious about things of the Lord. We need to be different and make a difference.

How long has it been since you or I asked the Holy Spirit to "clean our closets"? To go into those places where the door is shut and it might be a mess and talk to us about that which needs to be given to the Lord Jesus? Than which needs to be cleaned up and gotten out? That which needs to be repented of and thrown away?

I am imploring Him to have mercy (He always does) and be gentle (He always is - well, there was one time I remember being told to "shut up" but would I have listened otherwise?) But to show me His way and lead me in the paths which are pleasing to Him.

Why now, why today?

Because, dear ones, TIME IS SHORT, we might not have this opportunity tomorrow. IF there is no difference between us and the world, why would the world want to come to Jesus?
