I've watched many old boxing movies. Did you catch William Holden in 'Golden Boy' or Elvis in the leading role of 'Kid Galahad?' It took rigorous training to prepare for a big fight.

Boxers need to be diligent in exercise routines and learn how to say no to temptations. Rich foods and a night on the town are off limits. Victory in the ring is the attainable goal of a disciplined boxer.

As Christians, we take part in continuous spiritual training.

"For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (1Timothy 4:8 KJV)."

A wise boxer accepts his trainer's correction. Ours comes from a compassionate Lord.

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby (Hebrews 12:11 KJV).

True champions will stay their course.
