What Have You Received?

by Annagail Lynes

Giving thanks to the Father, WHO HAS QUALIFIED YOU to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. - Colossians 1:12-13

I was taught that I had to earn my blessings from God, that I had to be good enough for God to heal me, prosper me or to meet my needs.

I later learned that my blessings, that anything I receive from God, is not based on me. It is based on Jesus and the sacrifice He made at Calvary.

In the Old Testament, a person would bring a sacrifice, an animal, before the priest for their sins.

Instead of inspecting the person offering the sacrifice, the priest would inspect the animal.

Was the sacrifice without spot or wrinkle? If so, the sacrifice would be accepted.

As long as Jesus' sacrifice is still acceptable to God for our sins, we are qualified to receive all God has for us.

God is not withholding from us. He has already qualified us.

He has already offered us healing (2 Peter 2:24, Romans 8:11), abundance (John 10:10) and peace (John 14:27), along with the promise to meet our needs (Philippians 4:19).

All we have to do is believe Him and receive what He is offering.

Will there be times when we feel disqualified? Of course, but these are the times we need to focus on what Jesus has done for us.

We should envision what it was like for Jesus, vividly see what He did for us, in our mind's eye.

Remember Jesus exchanged His righteousness for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). He took all of our bad and gave us all of His good.

We are righteous because of Jesus. We are right with God because of Jesus. We are qualified because of Jesus.

We receive nothing good from God because of us. We receive it because of Jesusand Jesus alone.
