Are You Afflicted?

by Annagail Lynes
11/13/2015 / Devotionals

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19 (KJV).

Who are the righteous? This whole Scripture hinges on who the righteous are.

If you have accepted what Christ did at the Cross, you are indeed the righteous. You are righteous through Christ's shed blood at the Cross (II Corinthians 5:21).

Have you had any afflictions?

I know I have. I haven't had the afflictions of some, but I have had more than others.

If you've read my testimony, Divine Transformation, you know that I suffered from a deliberating anxiety/panic disorder. So bad that I wouldn't talk to anyone or talk on the phone. I lived in constant fear of everything and everyone.

True to His Word, though, God delivered me from that.

He took me from panic attacks to a person who gets to know my patients. I know their names, their preferences when it comes to the makers of their medications, their dogs' names and their grandchildren's names. Many introduce me to their family and friends as their friend at the pharmacy.

He has delivered me from mental and verbal abuse that caused the disorder in the first place as well.

I cried out to God so many times. There were times I didn't think He heard me, but God worked behind the scenes for many years to orchestrate my deliverance.

When we don't see Him working, that is when He is working the most.

That's when I would pray, "Lord, I don't know what You are doing, but I trust You."

Some days were so hard that it became "Lord, I don't know what You are doing, but I choose to trust You."

God has delivered me out of my afflictionsin His timing not mine. His timing is always perfect.

What He has done for me, He will do for you. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).

Praise God for what He has delivered you from, and thank Him for what He is delivering you from today.
