Who Is For You?

by Annagail Lynes

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31 (NIV).

Ever had those times in your life when things just didn't go right? Like you were caught in "whatever-could-go-wrong-did-go-wrong" syndrome?

We've all been there.

It is easy to wonder if God is mad at you because things aren't going your way.

Remember Job in the Bible? He lost his cattle and his children and developed boils (Job 1).

His friends and wife thought he must have done something to offend God (Job 2).

Only God called Job a righteous man (Job 1).

God was not mad at Job. Those things didn't happen to Job because he upset God in someway.

This Scripture tells us that God is for us.

God is for us.

Even when we have messed up, we are still righteous through the shed blood of Jesus (II Corinthians 5:21).

We aren't in right standing because of us or our good works. We are only righteous because of what Jesus did on the cross. He is our Savior. He is our Advocate when we have done wrong (I John 2:1).

God doesn't afflict us when we have sinned. God doesn't use our circumstances to teach us any thing.

Bad things happen in this world because it is a fallen world. People make bad choices. Sicknesses and accidents happen.

God only wants what is best for us. He has a plan and purpose for our lives that is to prosper us and not to harm us (Jeremiah 29:11).

Every good and perfect gift is from above (James 1:17).

If every good and perfect gift is from above, then we can figure out where all the other gifts come from.

Remember God is a good God. He wants to turn everything around for your good (Romans 8:28).

He is for you, and if He is for you, who can be against you?

If we stand still, we will see God fight on our behalf (Exodus 14:14). The battle, after all, is not ours but His (2 Chronicles 20:15).
