The Elections

I am not sure if writing this will be of help as it needs to get to some people that I don't know how to reach. I would love to be able to send this to all of the politicians.

The elections are really interesting and sad. The GOP has so many that say that they are a Christian yet the actions and fruit say another thing. Just because a person has accepted Jesus as Savior does not mean that they have made Him Lord of their lives. Many still are running the show. Many Christians I hear say they won't vote for anyone that is not a Christian. Well that is a good start but not always smart. God used a donkey remember? A donkey would not have had his head full of preconceived religious ideas. It was much easier for God to use the donkey than it is many Christians. The GOP has been termed the religious right. This is a very good title. They mean well but they are religious. There is a big difference in being religious or being one that has a deep relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. How many of them know the voice of the Lord through the Holy Spirit? How many of them spend hours in prayer to find out what God would want? Can they hear from God or are they so self-righteous that they think all their ideas are Godly and pleasing to the Lord? Without time in prayer, we do not get the revelations from the Holy Spirit that we need to make a Godly decision. It just does not come without prayer. Religious usually means very legalistic. It puts people under the law and brings much condemnation if a person does not follow correctly. The problem with this is man cannot save himself no more than he is able to keep the law. Jesus was the end and fulfillment of the law. Jesus does this through us if we are led by His Spirit. So many I have heard in the GOP seem to be for the rich and show little compassion for the poor or low income. They seem to not think that these people should receive any help. Sadly, at least the democrats do pursue and stand up for the poor but all the other liberal things are a little much. It seems now if it feels good do it as it is now legal. May not be moral but it is legal. In some ways that is alright as God has always given man free will and allowed him to make choices. Not all choices we make are good for us but our flesh seems to rule. Sin brings for death even though it has much pleasure for a season.

Many of those in the GOP say that they are a Christian, yet I have to stand back and look at the fruit. They say that actions speak louder than words. One candidate seems to be holding unforgiveness and a offense. That is not a Godly thing as we are told that we must forgive. If they were president and another country did something bad to us, could they ever forgive them or would they just send the troops to teach them a lesson? It can get sad and scary. Many candidates are rich monetarily but dead spiritually. God is love. God gave His Son to us. God is a loving and giving God. If we are in Christ, then we will be the same way. Scripture says that:

Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

If these candidates do not show love to the poor and needy, how does God dwell in them? They may say that they are a Christian but actions do speak louder than words. How can any person sit with their steak and shrimp dinners knowing that others are grateful to get beans if that, and it not tug at their hearts? Do we want a religious person or do we want a person that has God's love and compassion for people? I don't care what the candidates say that he/she is, as if they have no love coming through them than they are not a Godly Christian person.

Whomever is elected basically has power of attorney over the people. They are given the right to control and make decisions for us. If we put them there then we have given them permission. We may totally disagree with what they choose but since we give them that right we must abide by it. So to me it is rather important to decide who we want deciding and speaking for us.

I would hope that this writing helps someone to look at things a little differently and maybe encourage them to spend time in prayer and see what the Lord would want. Bottom line we have to please him.
