ARE YOU FEELING UNWORTHY?

A feeling of unworthiness towards God inevitably leads to religiosity. It causes you to try harder and do better. A never ending guilt trip of endless striving to make the mark and reach the goal.

Spiritual perfectionism is an energy sapping, mind blowing endeavor that is never satisfied. It's a spiritual sickness that eats at the heart of upright souls who are grasping the pot of gold at the end a rainbow; ever out of reach. When you think you have it, it's never there. Always the next hurdle, always the next thing. This sickness is born from a desire to please God. It's a dis - ease leading to burnout and at its worst, a grave with a tomb stone stating, "I died religious and had no peace."

This disease is the result of not understanding the Gospel, "Good News." It's a viral infection spawned in churches and people having no idea of what it means to rest in "the finished works of the cross." (Heb.4:11) They peddle a message of, "get good and do better."

While it is true that God expects perfection, He totally rejects it when it emanates from a source other than Himself. That is why all effort to be accepted by Him is futile.

Only Christ's work was perfect and only Christ's sacrifice was acceptable. We see this played out in the type and shadow of Cain and Able in the book of Genesis.(Ge.4:2) Cain's offering was not accepted because it was the fruit of his own efforts. Abels offering was accepted because it involved the shedding of a lambs blood. A life was taken and blood shed.

And so Christ's perfect life was taken to redeem us. When we try and make ourselves acceptable we act out Cain's disposition, which as we know, was not accepted. Why? It was a religious act with no spiritual life. Cain knew the importance of blood. He knew the slaying of a lamb represented true worship and acceptability.

In like manner we are accepted unconditionally by the perfect sacrifice of the Lamb of God; Christ Jesus, who took away the sin of the world.(Jn.1:29) Because of His shed blood we are accepted in the beloved. (Eph.1:6 ) Who is that Beloved? Jesus Christ.

That is why it is vitally important to accept the Gospel of Grace. It is only His Grace, His Goodness, His Perfection, His Righteousness that makes us acceptable and worthy - nothing of ourselves.

Rev 5:9 "And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;"

Christ is totally accepted by God the Father.
If we have accepted Christ, we then are accepted and made worthy "in Him." Amen.

If Christ's dwells in us and we accept that our salvation is by grace through faith alone, something happens. What is that something? Christ in us, performs, does and works in us and out of us everything that is worthy.

It is a work of the Holy Spirit, not a dead religious mind numbing activity. It is a supernatural projection and out-flowing of the Divine work already achieved by His death and resurrection.
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;"(Eph.2:19)

Can you see that if a person or church tells you to do, become and achieve; quote the Amplified Bible and say, "Yes, that's true, but,
"Not that (I'm) we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of (myself) ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from (me) us, but (my) our power and ability and sufficiency are from God. (It is He) Who has qualified (me) us (making (me) us to be fit and worthy and sufficient) as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant (of salvation through Christ), not (ministers) of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code (of the law) kills, but the (Holy) Spirit makes alive. (2Co. 3:5,6 Amp.)

So take courage - as a child of God, you are loved, accepted, made worthy, made righteous. You are forgiven and have entered into the Kingdom of His righteousness. Thus Grace is the all prevailing motivator and energizer for every good work and action.

"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men."(Rom14:17,18.) Amen.

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
