War on the mind

War on the mind

Satan wages war against your mind. He takes away peace, identity, sends slander hate, and evil to you. He adds pressure, lies, vindicates your enemies, and turns your scripture upside down.
Ignore all he says and does. It is just sent to build your godly character by relying more on God. Instead set your eyes on what God is doing.

Wars are won and lost in the mind. Since you have God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit with you, you are on the overall winning side. However God allows smaller wars for you to fight on earth, all of which are for His purpose and your strengthening.

However, you need to take action. "Be transformed by the renewal of your mind." Romans 12:2. Since Satan is always trashing your mind, you need to keep on putting good things into it, to keep strong in faith, and to keep winning your mental assaults.

Life can drain you of mental strength. Intelligent thinking may have come easily to you once, but now after sustained pressure and lack of support, you may find yourself struggling in this area. You may need to study new things, and look for ways to grow mentally.

If you are used to thinking, reflecting and writing and now you are often blocked from these, it may be time to reactivate those gifts and talents.

"Apply your mind to my knowledge." Proverbs 22:17

Bible reading alone may not be doing it for you. Nor does tv viewing, word and number quizzes. You may need new forms of mental stimulation to stop you drying out, and to revive your mind.

God does want you to be a thinker. After all, He is a deep thinker and we are created in His image. Being dumbed down to the point of dullness should be sounding warning bells in your mind. Something is not quite right. The Bible tells us to watch ourselves.

Satan attacks the mind. He comes in like an overpowering flood, a consuming tsunami destroying everything in its path. If it is nearly blank, you need to keep filling it with new and interesting things. He tries drawing your mind to what he is doing and saying, and tries convincing you that what he says is going to happen. He likes drawing attention to himself and letting you know how great he is. Though he isn't great at all but defeated by Jesus at the cross for us.

It is hard to switch off a sound. The ear still hears what is going on around you, even after you have turned away, whereas with a visual thing, you can turn your eyes away and not see it anymore. It is hard to switch Satan off once he starts whispering, talking and shouting. Once Satan has trapped you a few times, he begins to pulverize your faith thinking.

You really need to get free of such traps.

You could learn a new language, go deeper into an existing hobby, or learn something else that is new.

"God gave Solomon wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand of the seashore." 1 Kings 4:29. Solomon was a keen observer and writer of plants and people. God gave him breadth of thought as well as depth. God definitely wants you to be thinking, not thoughtless, and to actively fill your mind with right things, to counter what Satan is putting there. Satan wants you to be thoughtless so that he can plant suggestions into your mind. He wants you to be passive, have a blank mind, so he can write things into it. A healthy, active mind will be able to resist Satan more readily than a passive one.

You need to continually use your mind. There is peace and freedom in study, in learning. It is an ongoing process. Your student days are not just for your youth and early twenty's. You may need to be a perpetual student, and to keep growing mentally. If you are not growing, you may be shrinking. So keep feeding your mind with good things since it will keep your life interesting, and more importantly your faith strong.

May God keep blessing you.
