The Great Divide

Having been deeply hurt and causing emotional pain to others, I have been on both sides of the great divide.

In many instances, the contention is unintentional. We might not even be aware that what we have said or done offended the said parties. Yet, the damage has been done.

A great divide appears and quickly widens.

"An offended brother is harder to reach
than a fortified city,
and quarrels are like the bars of a fortress (Proverbs 18:19 HCS)."

It is difficult to make amends.

Forgiveness is risky. What if they hurt me again?

"Then Peter came to Him and said, 'Lord, how many times could my brother sin against me and I forgive him? As many as seven times?' 'I tell you, not as many as seven,' Jesus said to him, 'but 70 times seven (Matthew 18:21-22 HCS)."

How can I regain a person's trust after I wronged them? Through patience, kindness and love

"And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ (Ephesians 4:32 HCS)."
