Daylight and Evening Sense

Heads bow in supplication
prayers heard by the One above

grace for Aunt Tammy's arthritis,
mercy for Nephew George
that his cold be erased

and a job for our neighbour Mike,
his family in dire straits
food not so plentiful these days.

Both arose after breakfast, a
daily walk part of life's
journey. From apartment to
Sobey's grocery

a total of six blocks; twenty
minutes -- 4,281 steps.

Friends wave along the way, by
the Library steps
Beth huddles with a coffee
a Toonie handled the transaction

and Ralph at his usual hangout,
captured by Timmy Donuts.

The Grocery store accepts
our Wallet -- bread, ice cream
part of the groceries and somehow
the day ends, with a lasting

memory. Day's journey turns
to twilight and night-time prayers.
