Surviving

It does seem that surviving is the only thing there is for us to do. "How do I get through another day?" "Where am I going to find enough money to pay another bill?" "Am I ever going to get promoted?" "Will I ever find a job?" "Will my grown up children ever move out?" We all struggle with getting by while most of us live from paycheck to paycheck. Surviving can seem overwhelming at times!

But you are not here by happenstance. You are here by divine purpose. God chose every single person to be born on this planet before time began to serve His will and purpose. To fulfill His plans and the prophecies written in the bible. As His child you were not chosen for this time and place to fail, to quit, to give up or to walk away. You are not here to just survive! You are here to be victorious, to be successful, to prosper and to multiply. Jesus came so that you could have life and have it more abundantly. He chose you to be His hands, feet and mouth here on earth.

One of my bosses that I admired once told me a very true statement. He said, "It's hard to remember that you came to the pond to drain it when you're up to your butt in alligators!" For us Christians surviving is a given not a complaint. Our time on earth isn't supposed to be spent wasted on worrying about surviving but on blessing and loving others. To shine and show Jesus to the lost of the world!

Worrying is a form of complaining. If you are worrying about something then you assume that it is something worth worrying about. That it carries some weight of importance. The problem is that when you worry you elevate the problem higher than God's ability to take care of it. When you worry you in affect are complaining that God isn't able to fix your problem. I struggle with worrying as much as the next Christian but I know that I can take it to my God and He will answer my prayers! Worrying shows lack of faith and trust!

Matthew 6:25-27 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Worrying allows fear to saturate your thoughts and destroy your faith.

I know a "Christian" who always says the same thing, "I hope that Jesus comes back soon!" He feels overwhelmed by the wicked and sin filled world that he sees every day. "Things are getting worse. The wicked just do more wicked things." He is like so many other Christians whose testimony lacks victory. The unsaved can't find hope in his statements. We weren't put on earth to live in fear or to be defeated!

Isaiah 61:1-3 "1The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zionto bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."

You serve a powerful God who is Jehovah jireh, my God who provides ALL my needs! Surviving is part of your testimony not a complaint against your God. If it isn't then you're not living the Christian life. You must believe that God will bring you through it and that break through is waiting for you! For God has made you MORE than a survivor. He has made you MORE than an over-comer. For God has made you MORE than a conquer!
