Complete Help Begets Complete Benefits

It is forever settled as recorded in the first book of Moses, Genesis, in chapter two verses one and two:
"Thus the heaven and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.
And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done."

The final result of God's work for six days was "Everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good." In the Lord's infinite mercy, He created first all that mankind would need before his creation. At His creation, man lacked nothing. Therefore everything that any man would ever need is already made. It is now left to each individual to take his own portion. God feeds the birds but he does not put the food in their nests, they scout for it with an assurance that they will find.

Moses did the same.

In his zeal to deliver God's people in the land of Egypt, he slayed an Egyptian who wronged an Hebrew man. He tried as much as possible to conceal his wrongdoing, but it was known in the palace and an evil action was determined against Moses. This culminated in Moses going into self-exile. He fled the land of Egypt without having any specific destination.

It was on his journey as a wayfarer that he offered three helps to attract three benefits he needed. Like begets likes. The full story is contained in the book of Exodus 2 :17-21.

What were the helps he rendered?

"An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the Shepherds, and he also drew enough water for us, and watered the flock." verse 17.
These were the words of the benefactors of Moses helps. Who were they? They were the seven daughters of Ruel. In the time past, Shepherds used to drive these ladies away from doing their work of caring for their father's flock. As a result, they used to return home late. However, early arrival proved that an assistance was received.

Take note that those seven girls did not request for his help. It was a help rendered from the heart, no ulterior motives behind the help.
From the foregoing report of the girls, the following are evident:
1. Moses delivered them from the oppression and intimidation of Shepherds. He vehemently opposed those men and finally overcame them.
2. He did not stop at that, he took over the responsibility of watering the flock. Those seven girls were relieved of their regular burden. Galatians 6:2 confirms, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
3. He drew enough water for them. Please pay attention to the word "enough" He did not draw a little water but that which was sufficient. The ladies were satisfied by Moses' action.

What then were the three equivalent benefits his actions begot? From the Scriptures, he got
1.Food. The first necessity of man is food. The first instructions of the girls' father was, "Call him, that he may eat bread." verse 20d.
These words came from Ruel to appreciate what Moses did. He did not offer the help because of food. Although the young girls did not know what to do, their father corrected them. Feeding was Moses' first benefit. He had no plan whatsoever of how he would be fed.

2. Accommodation. The next important need of the moment was a place to rest/lay his head. This need was met. Verse 21a discloses,
"Then Moses was content to live with the man..."
He had a satisfactory place to lay his head. This was not the reason he rendered the help but it became a reward for him. He did not get just an accommodation but the one he was contented with.

3. A wife. Someone going on self-exile was only interested in his safety. But because he rendered unexpected help, he was given a wife. Exodus 2:24b discloses,
"....and he (Ruel) gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses."

A caring man married a lady he had cared for. Moses did not know on the first day he met the seven sisters that his wife was among them. It later came to pass. Moses finally settled in the land of Midian to become a family man.

Now, what do you want? It is already available; you only need to take the right steps to receive it. Such steps need to be taken with love of Christ, without greed or any ulterior motives. Do whatever you do wholeheartedly without any hidden agenda.
The Scriptures encourage us,
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6::9-10
