Looking Back

There are occasions when we must look back behind us. Common sense leads us to look back before backing a vehicle. What we don't know can hurt us or others! In the event that we see a pedestrian or an obstacle, we brake and avert an accident.

Beep-Beep-Beep!

When we hear backup alarms sounding from nearby vehicles we heed the warnings.

In Scripture, we read of warnings against looking back

"When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, 'Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.' And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, 'Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed (Genesis 19:15-17 NKJV)."

Lot's wife did not comply.

"But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26 NKJV)."

Will I look back or walk forward in faith?

"But Jesus said to him, 'No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62 NKJV)."
