LEN'S LINES - A Little Religion On A Positive Note by Len Granger

When I write about churches I am speaking about the congregation of God's people. After we accepted our gracious and loving Lord as our Savior, we then made the decision of which church we would attend. I accepted the Lord at age 9 and spent 22 years in the Air Force, so have attended many different type churches around our country.

Churches are all sizes from the small country church to the church with thousands of believers. Some churches appeal to the young and families with children with their type of music. As we read in the Bible, Psalm 33:3 " Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise." Then other churches appeal to the older generations with quiet type music.

The Lord tells us all believers are equal before the Cross. Some churches have women in offices of importance. Matthew 12:50 the Lord tells us, " For whosoever shall do the will of our Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother." A woman in Jesus time was the first to have a city revival for the Lord. Other churches are totally men dominated in all positions of leadership.

The largest difference in churches is how they follow the Lord's Great Commission. Some churches are the Outreaching Type and others are the Self Serving type.

In outreaching congregations they spread the Gospel by feeding and clothing the poor , visiting the prisons and old folks homes, and speaking to the people in the homeless shelters. There are hurting, lonely, and discouraged people everywhere that need to hear the Salvation message.

In the Self Serving Churches, they spread only the Gospel and try to add people to their church, They have classes on how to be a better wife or have a better marriage but do little to help others outside their church in any material way.

The Lord tells us in Matthew 25:38-40, " When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked or clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as we have done it unto one of the least of my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Trust this Sunday we will all be in the church of our chose as we worship and hone our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
