GRACES HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE.

by ROBIN BOSCH
2/06/2017 / Devotionals

Jessie Kriel, a South African rugby player, had his perspective changed when he was chosen to be a Springbok. He was interviewed on TV and said something profound. “When I became a Springbok it wasn’t a sacrifice anymore, it was what I wanted to do."

In other words the enormity of being identified under the Springbok emblem made all hardship and difficulty fade into thin air. It overshadowed everything. He was carried effortlessly by the honor, prestige and privilege it represented. Nothing else mattered.

Our Captain, Christ the Son of God was,”… clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.” (Rev 19:13 KJV)
“And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev 19:16 KJV)

Our Emblem and Banner, the Blood of Christ’s Cross, is the Insignia of Eternal Life, the Door of our salvation. When I grasp the enormity of whose banner I am under, all efforts are effortless. Why? Because the joy of believing who I am in Him, emboldens, strengthens, constrains and sustains me.

Put another way, the understanding and conviction of Christ’s love and unconditional acceptance, demonstrated by His willingness to sacrifice His life’s blood, energizes and boosts me with dynamic propulsion. The heavenly fuel being Christ’s grace ignited by the Holy Spirit.

When I believe the full worth and value of God’s grace, all hardship, all difficulty, all duty loses its debilitating affect and is replaced with Gods Kingdom dynamic.

When Jesus said, “my grace is sufficient for you,” he was also saying I should allow myself to be overwhelmed with Gods Holy Spirit perspective – “it is enough” – “it is sufficient”- “the be-all and say-all of the New Covenant purchased in His Blood.”

[And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel. (Heb 12:24 KJV)]

When I slip back into religious mode however, everything is a duty. Everything is hard and energy sapping, joyless and dead. Grace on the other hand is vibrant and alive. Why do I say that? Because grace is a person and that Person is Jesus. “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1Jo 5:20 KJV)

When I understand grace, my perspectives change. His invention becomes my intention, my motive, my drive; burdens born; loads carried on eagles’ wings, flying on the thermals of the Spirit. Wings extended, my soul buoyed, souring on the Kingdom current, touching the sky… Glory!

When I shift my focus from Christ onto the beggarly elements of my abilities, achievements and self-improvement, I plunge from the lofty heights of His grace to the dead weight and limits of space and time; my vision blurred, my eyes misty.

On the other hand, as soon as I allow the atmosphere of heaven to intoxicate me with His grace, I find myself lifted above the burdens and oppressions of this present world.

Granted, this earthly life is very real, but the life which Christ offers is not based on what I am but who He is. Not on what I see in the physical but what I see in the Spirit.

Just as Abraham the patriarch, “….looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker [is] God,” (Heb 11:10 KJV) so the life of grace lifts my soul and anchors my hope on the immovable foundation of God’s word. (Jn.1:1)

Grace shifts the focus from me to Him and seats me in heavenly places.(Eph.2:6) My mind already living in heaven, waiting for my body to arrive.

When I climb above the pollution and pious presentation of religion and what man says, I become unshackled from its restraints. I move in the limitless expanse of faith which is the limitless space of God.
“Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” (Col 1:29 KJV)

This position transports me into the exhilarating atmosphere of Gods Kingdom, even while residing here on earth – the very here and now.

The life of the Spirit is a life that is God breathed and when Gods Spirit is exhaled from my spirit, where the Spirit of God resides, it has the effect of imparting life to my soul and to all entering into my sphere of influence. This life is the grace life that sets me free from the law that held me captive for so long.(Ga.4:25)

[Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Gal 5:1 KJV)] Isn’t that wonderful?

You might say to me, “That’s all very well, but we live in a real world with very real problems, isn’t this just a pipe dream, a heavenly high that cannot be experienced on earth.” If I take that stance, then in truth I make the word of God of no effect, (Mk.7:13) walking by what I hear, see, touch, feel and taste.

Faith is not only believing without reserve the full and unadulterated truth and experiencing Kingdom promises after I die, but also experiencing the benefits and essence of salvation even while sojourning on earth.

Of course the full expression of “Eternal Life” will only be fully manifest when I enter heaven, (For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known;(1Co 13:12 KJV) but God wants to give me heaven here on earth.

This may not seem feasible when I look at circumstances. The truth is, Jesus wants me to take hold of His grace and walk in the Spirit where peace rules and reigns. By this I mean inner peace.” Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (Jhn 14:27 KJV)

Again you could say, “This can’t be, it’s not possible on this earth, look how terrible things are.” I propose it is possible on the grounds that Jesus said,” The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”(Lu.17:20,21KJV) “

That’s the key and that’s the Good News. As a believer in Christ I am not bound by my limited physical environment. Jesus confirmed this by saying,” Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.” (Mat 6:10 KJV)

My conversation, my secret place, my hiding and abiding place is already in heaven. “Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ:” (Eph 1:3 KJV)

As I said in the beginning, if I can fully grasp the enormity of the grace of God, (I don’t think I ever will to the full extent, it being so infinite and limitless,) the truth that I am called to live in total freedom from condemnation by walking in the Spirit by faith, will enable me to project and exude heavens fragrance and live in the victory that Christ obtained for me.

The perspective of the Kingdom of God will outweigh and overshadow everything I may be faced with. I will no longer be subjugated by what my five senses tell me. I will no longer be bound by the restrains of this world. I will freely live and move and have my being in Christ. (Act.17:28KJV)

I will be able to say “For whether (I) live, (I) live unto the Lord; and whether (I) die, (I) die unto the Lord: whether (I) live therefore, or die, (I) (am) the Lord's.”(Ro.14:8KJV) (Note: Changed to first person by me)

I will also be able to confess boldly that,“….none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” (Act 20:24 KJV) Amen.

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
