Second Time Around

Song writer Sammy Cahn put the words to music. Love is better ‘The Second Time Around.’

Many choose to remarry after a broken relationship or widowed. Seeking companionship, they tie the knot lawfully for a second time.

We were once ‘bound’ by the law. In regards to law and grace, Apostle Paul said this about the second time around.

“Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?  For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.  So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God (Romans 7:1-4 NKJV).”

Jesus death, burial and resurrection freed us from bondage to the law. Christ is the Lamb of God and He has taken the church as His bride.

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.’ And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints (Revelation 19:7-8 NKJV).”
