Guard My Heart

Did you ever grieve your father or mother? If so, you likely regret it.

God, our heavenly Father is Spirit. Yet, He has feelings. I may not understand all that is involved; never the less, I believe it is true. I read two pertinent passages earlier today.

“How often they provoked Him in the wilderness,
And grieved Him in the desert (Psalm 78:40 NKJV).”

Perhaps that brought a New Testament reference to memory.

“Therefore, putting away lying, ‘Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another. ‘Be angry, and do not sin:’ do not let the sun go down on your wrath,  nor give place to the devil.  Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:25-32 NKJV).”

Now, the other passage that I read in my Bible earlier... The LORD was crushed.

“Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive, because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play the harlot after their idols; they will loathe themselves for the evils which they committed in all their abominations (Ezekiel 6:9 NKJV).”

Father, guard my heart. I do not want to grieve You.
