I Am Holy, I Am Sanctified, I Am Perfected, I Am Righteous

by Michael Edwards
3/03/2018 / Bible Studies

As a believer, we should be declaring that we are Righteous, Holy, Sanctified and Perfected in Christ. If you have a hard time doing this, you are looking at yourself and not Jesus.

The Greek word used in the New Testament for holy is the same word used for sanctified. If it says you’re holy, it means you’re sanctified and vice versa too.

Hagiazó - Short Definition: I make holy, sanctify

And by that will, we have been made holy/sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:10 NIV

Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified/made holy, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Cor 6:11 NASB

For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified/holy are all from one [Father]; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren Heb 2:11 NASB

And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build [you] up and to give [you] the inheritance among all those who are sanctified/holyActs 20:32 NASB

that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified/made holy by faith in Me.Acts 26:18b NASB

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified/holyHeb 10:14 NASB

Paul even calls the Corinthians who were caught up in sexual sin, sanctified/holy. Like us, I bet that is not what they saw when they looked in the mirror or at the flesh of their brothers and sisters in Christ. He also called them Saints.

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their [Lord] and ours: 1 Cor 1:2 NASB

Our salvation is not about us. While we should always try to do the next right thing, the flesh will never be perfected, that is why it must die.

This is faith, we no longer regard ourselves or other believers by the flesh. We believe God’s word that we are already a new creation.

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Cor 5:16-17 ESV

I Am Righteous, Holy, Sanctified and Perfected.

Seeing ourselves perfected in Christ is what transforms us into the image of Christ.
