The Rope

It always starts the same; you end up with shovel in hand digging your pit of sin. The more you try to justify your sin the more shoveling you do, the deeper you pit becomes. When you finally realize that lies and deception have trapped you in your pit then you call upon God for help to rescue you.

That’s when God drops down a rope to provide the way out. Sad that too often we cry out for His help and rescue then ignore the rope that He has provided. Sometimes it’s because we’re expecting a different rescue than the rope He is using. Or we wanted Him to rescue us our way. Maybe expecting God to do ALL the work while we just wait.

God provides a very effective and simple way of escape but it takes effort on your part to secure your release. For you first have to want to be rescued, willing to leave your pit of sin and not look back. Repenting and turning away from it. Second, you must grab the rope tightly with both hands. Then you start climbing up the rope hand over hand until you reach the top of the pit. There you’ll find God’s hand waiting to pull you to safety.

Satan does everything he can to keep you in your pit of sin. Tying it to your past, filling it with guilt and shame and topping it off with lies of your unworthiness and worthlessness. He’ll try to drag you back to your pit of sin with pity parties and sinful distractions. Whatever it takes to get your eyes off of Jesus and His will for your life.

For when ALL of your attention is on yourself, your sins, your shame, your selfishness and self-centeredness then you no longer are a useful tool for God. Your time and effort is spent addressing your needs instead of the needs of those around you!

It’s time to get out of your pit of sin and put your life back in the hands of the Master! It is guaranteed that He’ll do a better job of taking care of you then you could ever do taking care of you!
