GI Boot Camp: "No Sweat" For Teens Ages 16-18

What is the Gideon Intern, you might ask? And how can you go to "boot camp" and not sweat? Well, listen up. You won't want to miss this opportunity if you're a teen ages 16-18 and you're interested or involved in Christian media arts.

The Gideon Intern (GI) is for teens ages 16-18 who want to begin, develop, or advance in Christian media arts. It is being led by Generals Vonda Skelton and Sarah Anne Sumpolec at the Gideon Media Arts Conference and Film Festival (MACaFF), coming to Ridgecrest, NC (near Asheville) in April, 2008. This event promises to be a plethora of wisdom, training, and assistance for all those interested in Christian media arts.

So, what are "media arts"? Media arts includes drama, dance, acting, singing, music, writing, directing, producing, screenwriting, scriptwriting, playwriting, film, theater, and all other associated forms of media.

Teens, do you dream of working with your church's drama team? Or what about ministering on the worship team? Are you a songwriter? Do you write plays for church drama? Do you want to act in Christian films or dramas? Have you ever thought of writing a film script? How about being a DJ or Christian recording artist? If you have dreams or desires to work in Christian media arts, this is the place for you. This is specifically designed for teens wanting to take their love of Christian media arts to the next level.

The Gideon MACaFF will bring many Christian Hollywood and industry professionals, including some international pros, in all of these areas to converge upon the beautiful mountains of NC next April. Workshops and various sessions will be offered to give instruction, encouragement, and skill-building opportunities to all who attend.

The Gideon MACaFF is offering the Gideon Intern program for youth ages 16-18, and it will be comprised of three parts:

1. Boot Camp Basics - where participants will learn what it means to be a professional in the industry, why the need for a strong, spiritual foundation, and how to develop character while learning the skills of the trade.

2. Custom Corporal Training where participants can study in their specific field of interest, coupled with industry professionals in that field for more customized training, and

3. Advanced Training for Sergeants where participants can move through the ranks and choose elective classes from a wide array of workshops being offered at the Gideon MACaFF.

Where else can you get West Coast and International professional training and help right here in the Southeast? This will be a wonderful opportunity to advance in the media arts field, using and developing your talents for God's work.

You don't have to be a published author, songwriter, or established actor to participate. Maybe you've got a little experience and want to hone your skills. Maybe you don't have any experience, but you do have a dream. Perhaps God has placed a vision in your heart for some of these things, but you don't know where to start. Perhaps you've been seeking God for further directions.

Well, for those of you in the Southeast part of the U.S. (or anywhere, for that matter), there's great news! You can travel to beautiful Ridgecrest NC (near Asheville) and begin on this journey with the Lord. Study and advance alongside some other notables like Dr. Ted Baehr, Stephen James, Dr. Linda Seger, Rev. Michael and Terri Catt, Dallas Jenkins, Cindy Kenney, Matt Stockman, and Ken Wales. Join in by applying to be a GI. Come and see what God might show you. Come and gain training and skill in your field of interest.

Come and be encouraged and introduced to industry professionals, actors, producers, directors, and others who all started just like you with a dream!

In Bruce Wilkinson's book and DVD series The Dream Giver, he talks about God placing in our hearts a dream. It's a different dream for each person, but it all comes from God for His plan and purposes in our lives. If your dream includes Christian media arts, you need to be at this conference. You will be able to "meet and greet" industry professionals, gain extraordinary skills, and deepen your relationship with the Lord in an encouraging Christian environment.

If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 as of April 14-18, 2008, then you can qualify to become a GI. You can begin a road of intensive training in Christian media arts. Applications for the GI program will be accepted from October 15th, 2007 through December 15th, 2007 only. Participants will be notified by February 1st of their acceptance into the program, and will then need to register for the Gideon conference by March 1st.

For those who may need to bring schoolwork along, you will be allowed a segment of time during each day to complete your schoolwork. You might even qualify to have some of the GI Boot Camp as educational credits. Check out this brochure on the website to see if the Gideon conference might qualify for your school.
