LOOKING UP TO THE DIVINE

by ONOME OGBAJIBREDE

Scriptural Reading: Psalms 34:3-4

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2(KJV)

I remember one of our fellowship pastors who got married for so many years and there was no issue. They looked up to God for His timely intervention and the wife eventually took-in. According to him, as the wife was pregnant, he told God and said ‘why not just settle me’. Do you know that God heard that prayer and when the wife delivered, it was a boy and a girl?  God settled them and they were happy. Psalms 34:5 (KJV) says ‘They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.’ When we look up to God, humankind cannot look down on us. God takes away reproach.

Our Bible passage where we read in Psalms 34:4-5, the psalmist inquired of the Lord and he was granted deliverance from all his fears and he also made mention of how those who look to God becoming radiant and their faces never becoming blush for shame or be confused. The secret to victory is an absolute dependence on God.

God is the possessor of the ends of the earth and He is the emperor of Heaven, and the monarch of the universe. There is no issue that is difficult for Him to handle. When we look up to Him all the time, He will meet us at the point of our needs and remove shame from our midst.

Has God failed for once? Not at all. We can look up to God through constant studying of His word and key-in to other people’s testimonies, and remain focus in the place of prayers. Secondly, we can also add this scripture as a supporting tool that we can apply on a daily basis in looking up to God Almighty.  ‘For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:11 (KJV). Looking unto God guarantees absolute victory and testimonies.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, help me to look up to divinity continuously and help me not to look up to mortal for any help. Amen

Looking unto God is an invitation card that takes away reproach.
