TAKING A DIVINE STAND

Scriptural Reading: Romans 8:35-39

‘‘Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain.’’  Exodus 19:17 (ESV)

One of our fellowship pastors’ resident in Abuja, Nigeria shared with us of the experience he had when they visited one influential personality who was from their state who also resides in Abuja by virtue of a political appointment he was holding as that time. When they visited the man’s house, he offered them alcoholic wine for entertainment, while others where drinking maybe out of fear or other personal reasons, he refused to join them to drink. The man told our pastor to take the wine that even pastors take it, but our pastor refused. Our pastor took his stand for God and refused to drink the wine. If standing for Christ will make a fellow to put the life on the line, then it is a worthy cause. People have eaten and taken in what they ought not to and have lost their God-given anointing.

Our scriptural reading expressed the decision of the writer to stand for Christ, no matter the level of affliction or persecution. In standing for Christ, one is being regarded as a sheep that faces death all the day long and when we make up our minds to take a divine stand for the Almighty God, nothing would be able to separate us from His love. Everyone that stands for God would definitely see a bright light at the end of every tunnel of trials.

Is it possible to take a divine stand for Christ at all times? The answer is YES. The first thing is this, let people know us as Christians wherever we find ourselves and this will serve as a check on us. Secondly, let us hold on to God’s instruction on a daily basis in His word in the book of Proverbs 1:10 (NIV) My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them.’ Thirdly, we can also hold on to this scripture as a guide for our daily living. Exodus 23:2a (NIV) Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,’

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, help me through your Holy Spirit Divine, to always make my stand known to people and never to be ashamed of you. Amen

A stand for Christ is a stand for gold and not for silver.
