Quest for ease has ebbed your glory!
Earthly comforts for my body,
Has kept me low from Your fullness.
Now help me groan, and be restless.

Refrain:
O Lord, cause Your Bride to travail!
The ease of the flesh is in vain!
There's a higher height of glory,
I must attain through agony.

Vs2:
There's a pressing, there's a struggle,
There's a journey, there's a battle.
O, cause that what You've made me see,
Would come to pass as You I seek!

Vs3:
That I may sleep no more, dear Lord!
That I may slumber no more Lord.
Birth a travail in my spirit,
Time is far spent in this world's filths.

Vs4:
Till I love You more than before,
Till the fullness of Christ be formed,
Take away ease from my bosom,
Make me travail with d'right burden.

Vs5:
Bring the increase of Your Kingdom,
Upon my life, in Your wisdom.
Grow me in our relationship,
For I must grow into sonship.
