Jesus Wore Camoflauge

by Tonja Taylor
3/04/2020 / Salvation

Jesus, the Holy Son of God, and part of the Holy Trinity, laid down His diety and came to earth in disguise.

His true identity was camoflauged--hidden. He was born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38), raised by her and Joseph along with other siblings, and did no miracles until after He was baptized in the Holy Spirit when He was 30 (Luke chap 3 and 4).

Many thought He was a great teacher. Many thought He was a great prophet.

Before His death for the entire human race on the cross (John 3:15-17; Romans 5:7-9; Romans 5:9-11), then His bodily resurrection 3 days later, only a few people recognized and acknowledged Him as the Messiah.

Many expected Him to charge in and defeat the Romans and take over by force.

But that is not the way of God. He is holy, and He is gentle. He is the  omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God. But, thank goodness, He is Love (I John 4:8).

Jesus chose to humble Himself and become as one of us. Yet, because of the sin nature of Adam, God the Father chose to send Jesus to be born of no human man, but of the Holy Spirit that overshadowed the young virgin, Mary.

But the LORD Jesus, Who humbled Himself not only by leaving Heaven and becoming a person and going through every temptation known to man (yet never sinning, but always overcoming!), even further humbled Himself by going to the cross to pay the sin debt for every human that would ever be born:

6 He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize. 7 Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human! 8 He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion! 9 Because of that obedience, God exalted him and multiplied his greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names! (Philippians 2:6-9, The Passion Translation)

HALLELUJAH!

Also, when He was on earth, only some people recognized Who He truly was. Even the 12 disciples did not fully understand Who He was, until after His death and resurrection! Peter had some insight into His true identity, but most of the disciples did not.

So the LORD Jesus Christ, Who is the great I Am, the One Who is and is to Come, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Creator and Sustainer of Heaven and earth, chose to become like one of us--so He could give us the opportunity to become like Him: a Son (or daughter) of God:

12But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His Name,  He gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.…(John 1:12,13, Berean Study Bible)

In this earth, when we become born again by receiving Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD, we are also wearing camoflauge; this body is not the real us. The real us is a spirit, even before we become born again, for when this body dies, the spirit which came from God and gives it life will leave it We are a spirit, with a soul (mind, will, emotions), and our spirits and souls live in a body (I Thes. 5:23)

The spirit that gives life to our bodies will either go to Heaven if we are born again by believing in Christ Jesus as Savior and LORD, or to hell if we reject Him.

We must humble ourselves to receive Christ. The fallen nature of man is to try to do things himself (or herself), without God. But that is temporary and a deception. We are eternal spirits, and every spirit was originally born out of Elohim, the Creator God, Who is Himself eternal, outside of time, with no beginning and no end (Job 12:10).

But because of the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden, when they listened to the enemy and betrayed the LORD, man has needed a Savior. He is both the Savior of the spirit and the body, but the spirit is the eternal part of every human; the part that is like God. However, in it's fallen state, it must be born again, or regenerated; replaced with the Spirit of Jesus, to be able to be holy enough to go to Heaven when the body that holds it dies.

So we must humble ourselves and ask the LORD to save us. But He is the wonderful Savior, Counselor, Helper, and Friend! God becomes our loving Father, Who is forever faithful! Jesus becomes our Brother, and we come into a Covenant inheritance that is far more excellent and abundant than we can imagine!

The LORD Jesus starts working with our hearts and souls to help us understand how to live as He wants.

Also, when we humble ourselves to work with others and respect them (which is part of the work of Jesus, Who only did what He saw His Father God doing, and only said what His Father told Him to say), we are being like God. That is hard on the flesh--the sin nature of us, since the fall of Adam, that wants to have its own way and dominate other people.

But the LORD Jesus is our example, and He is our Help by His Holy Spirit inside of us when we receive Jesus as Savior and LORD, to help us let Him live through us.

When we choose to put down our pride and realize we cannot live this life successfully without Jesus saving us and living through us, we are being humble like Jesus was, to submit to the perfect Plan of God. And it's the most wonderful Plan of all, the Ephesians 2:10 Plan for us--all good!

Then, we the LORD Jesus returns to earth to gather all of us who love and have received Him as Savior and LORD and take us to Heaven, it will be revealed who we really are; we will be shown to be just like Him!

However, on this earth, the revealing of our true identity as sons and daughters of God is a process. When Jesus the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts, He starts teaching us His ways; helping us get rid of wrong behavior and thinking, and start gaining right thinking and thus right acting. These things bring Him honor and glory, for when we agree with God's Word and act on it, others are seeing Christ Jesus live His life through us (2 Corinthians 3:18)!

So you could say that, especially since Jesus went back to Heaven and sent His Spirit as our Helper to live the life of Christ on earth, He is still camoflauged until we work with Him to let Him bear His fruit (Galatians 5:22), the fruit of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, meekness, faithfulness, patience, and self-control--through us.

When we act opposite of the Word of God, Who is Christ Jesus Himself (John 1:1), then Jesus stays camoflauged. But when we let Christ Jesus lead us in His Way--the Word of God--then He is seen.

And that, my dear reader, is why we are on the planet. The more others see the Real Jesus revealed in us, the more they understand how good God is, and the more they want to become born again and be part of the Royal Family with us--and be taken to Heaven (Paradise) forever, when the LORD Jesus Himself returns!

When He returns, He will not be camoflauged at all; He will be in all His glory, and all the world will see it, and bow to that most holy triumphant name, Jesus Christ the LORD (Philippians 2:10)! Hallelujah!

So let us pray: LORD, I want to be a humble servant like You. You are the perfect example! Please forgive me of all my sins--including where I have not been humble--and come into my heart and be my Savior and LORD. Then please start teaching me more of Your ways so I can let Your Spirit flow through me so that I will experience Your Grace and the deep satisfaction of partnering with You, to help others see Your beauty and love. I receive Your help, and I look forward to Your return, Majesty! In Your Name, Amen!
