Elvis Packed the Fiske
by PamFord Davis
4/28/2020 / Devotionals
Elvis Presley starred in 31 movies. (biography.elvis.com) Back in the 1960’s, my husband tore tickets at the Fiske, his hometown movie theatre. He says Elvis packed the Fiske. During his career, Elvis performed at 1,684 concerts. (wrkr.com) You might assume he was self-confident. I did.
Years ago, I heard an interesting Elvis story. We were visiting in the home of a Memphis area pastor. He told us that he had performed a wedding for one of Elvis close friends.
Elvis was the best man and visibly nervous about his part in the ceremony. In movies, he always had a director. For the wedding, Elvis was unsure about where to stand. He wanted an X on the floor, to direct him to the right spot.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones (Proverbs 3:5-8 NKJV).”
The LORD wants to direct me.
I can trust Him; you can too.
‘Thank you; thank you very much.’
