With UNveiled Faces

by Tonja Taylor
8/21/2020 / Christian Living

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.   --2 Corinthians 3:18, AMPC

I underlined "unveiled face" in 2 Corinthians 3:18 to emphasize it. Despite many negative voices that the virus and its effects will continue indefinitely, I believe it has a definite end.

For one thing, the true Body of Christ will not stand for this. We are created to be a free people, in every way!

For another, although there were plenty of diseases in Jesus' time--including leprosy!--then He, our perfect Example, would have worn a mask and told us to.

I do abide by the rules of the land, as the LORD exhorts us, and wear a mask as instructed where it is required. But I do not do it out of fear; only respect for the law. I see the wisdom of this. But I am many others believe this is only a temporary situation--NOT the 'new normal'!

The LORD our God, the omnipotent One, knew this was coming and has already prepared a way of escape. Our good God never intended for sin or curse to be in the world; He made the Garden of Eden for us His people to live in! There is no sin nor darkness nor any evil in the LORD; He is light! He is all good, all the time.

This virus and every negative thing in the world is NOT His will! But we do know that He is protecting us His poeple from the negative effects of it as much as possible--truly, as much as we cooperate with His Spirit and His Word--His Glory.

He is protecting us in this time as much as He has ever protected His people. Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)! Hallelujah!

For I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that our forefathers were all under and protected by the cloud [in which God’s Presence went before them], and every one of them passed safely through the [Red] Sea, -I Corinthians 10:1, AMPC

Our Father God has always got our backs. He is so good--even to those who have blatantly denounced Him and cursed Him--LORD have mercy on those people! And He has. He rains on the just and the unjust........He is so very good! He wants all people to turn to Him and be saved and have a glorious life full of His living, liberating Word, full of abundance of peace and grace and plenty!

We can trust Him. As He told a church member years ago, "You trust Me with eternity; trust me with today."

This strange time has helped many realize what and whom are really valuable in life, and that includes a deepening understanding of the vital importance of the Word of the LORD, the Holy Bible; of church attendance (in person and online!); of family time; of rest; of other precious relationships in our lives.

With our loving Daddy God, we are forever safe (Psalm 23, Psalm 91)! This is true, whether we feel like it or not, because He is faithful and, even if we are not faithful to Him, He abides faithful. But the more we look into the perfect law of liberty--the Word of God--and are changed into His Glory, the more that peace will come. His unchanging Word is our glory; our confidence, our solid Rock.

Truly, as Genesis 50:20 says, what was intended for evil again us God always works for good.  Hallelujah!

Back to 2 Corinthians 3:18. When we look at the glorious, unchanging, eternal Word of God, we are seeing part of the LORD's glory. Truly, the more we look into His Living Word, the more we are transformed--changed--into His likeness.

The LORD knows all about us, even every word on our tongues before they are spoken. So to be changed to be more like Him, we look into His glorious Word and become more like him as we respect and learn and absorb and live His Word. He tells us to come boldly to His Throne of Grace for help. He is ever near, and always with us. When we receive His Son, Jesus, as our Savior, He promises to never leave us (John 3:15-17).

Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.--Romans 5:2

When we receive Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD, God is then our loving Father, our Daddy God, Who loves us with an everlasting love and Whose plans for us are always and only good (Jeremiah 29:11).  So just as a trusting child runs to his or her parent for help, knowing they are loved and will receive care and protection and what they need, let us run to our dear Father by honoring and living His Word; learning what He instructs us and following it; learning more about Him and who we are in His Word; talking to Him in prayer; worshiping and praising and thanking Him for all His faithful goodness to us all the days of our lives; and just resting and rejoicing that, with Him, we never have to wear a "mask". Rather, we look into His perfect, solid, unchanging Word, and experience His glory--and see Him and ourselves the way we really are!
