THE RAPTURE

Thought:  Is it possible that Bible believing Christians will be taken out of this world before the seven-year Tabulation?  The word rapture, that’s familiar to most Christians, is translated as “the taking out” out of those who have placed their faith in Christ and the gospel account on what he accomplished on the cross.  The Bible tells us in I Thessalonians that “we who are still alive and remain on earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.  So, comfort and encourage each other with this news.”  We will be changed into our eternal bodies like Jesus had after his resurrection.

Most of us remember the story of doubting Thomas who reached out to the nail scared hands of Jesus and believed in who he was. Jesus was standing before him in a solid body that Thomas could touch.  Jesus also stayed for another 40 days, talking, eating and fellowshipping in his new body.  This same immortal body is what we will be given when we are taken up to meet the Lord in the air.

After Revelations chapter four the true church (body of Christ) is not mentioned because believers have been taken out and not under the judgement that will come upon the world in the seven-year Tribulation.  This will be a time of horror that has never happened and never will be again. If God had not shortened the days all life would be destroyed.  It’s not a time when you want to be left behind. “And unless the Lord shortens that time of calamity, not a soul in all the earth will survive.  But for the sake of his chosen ones he will limit those days (Mark 13:20). 

It will be a time when the anti-Christ will sit in the third temple and proclaim he is God.  “He will defy every god there is and tear down every other object of adoration and worship.  He will go in and sit as God in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God (II Thess. 2:4).” In the middle of that seven years he will demand that all should be marked (chipped) with his number 666.  Millions will be deceived and take his mark, but it will seal their fate.  “He required everyone—great and small, rich and poor, slave and free—to be tattooed with a certain mark on the right hand or on the forehead.  And no one could get a job or even buy in any store without the permit of that mark, which was either the name of the Creature (anti-Christ) or the code number of his name (Rev. 13:16-17).” Modern technology has now made it possible for this to happen and in some countries, this is happening even today on an experimental basis. 

Everything is in place to build that third temple.  The priests have been trained, utensils have been made and the red heifer is alive and well.  For the Christian our hope is that we will be taken out before the beginning of the seven year Tribulation.  Time is short, the Lord is coming soon.  The outcome of this election will tell us if we should ready ourselves for our departure.  If Socialism will be the new norm then look up because Jesus will be coming soon.  Are you ready to meet him in the air?  If you are like doubting Thomas, then invite Him into your life and proclaim like Thomas did “MY LORD AND MY GOD”.

Prayer:  Father God, reach out in Spirit and bring in those lost souls into your kingdom.  Shine your light into their understanding of who you are and what you have accomplished on the cross for them.  Maranatha, even so Lord come.

Verse:  Colossians 2:9,10  “For in Christ there is all of God in a human body, so you have everything when you have Christ and you are filled with God through your union with Christ.  He is the highest Ruler with authority over every other power."
