A Husband Material

In a recent conversation I had with a young vibrant minister of God with great potential for the future, the three words that formed the title of this piece emerged.

How did it happen?

As a young man, a bachelor, he loves to discuss with me about marriage and what it takes to have a good (happy) home. So, in the last week of October, the last Sunday to be specific, we had another round of discussion. This young man's older brother is planning for his wedding day that will take place in a few weeks time. This brings the families together for series of discussions.

During one of such discussions, the bride in the making, knowing this young man very well referred to him as a "husband material" for any woman. This was written on his online page ; this affords the minister's fiance to read this about her future spouse. She only wrote "Hmmm!" as her comment on the statement on her would be husband.

Whatever her "Hmmmm!" might mean is not the main point of discussion here but the real statement itself, husband material!

After a period of serious meditation on these words, my conclusion is that this bride-to-be " has eyes and can see clearly". It is not every woman that can utter such words about any man, young or old. I think that this our sister knows what she wants in a man and can recognise it when she sees it. I want to believe that this sister must have seen the same attributes in her own husband as well. These may be the magnet that attracts her to the nice family.

Do you know that the same young man tagged "A husband material" is condemnable by any woman who never see anything good in a man or a woman who does not know what she wants out of life(marriage)? To some women, no man is good or fit for marriage. Such women always center their eyes on one weakness or the other of every man. They have no standard. They have nothing to consider for their future. I even doubt if such women are in any way "a wife material" themselves.

There is a lot to learn from this sister's statement : Proverbs 14:1 declares,
"The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands." New King James Version (NKJV).

This verse points out that to have a family that will be happy calls for a woman who will build it with wisdom. There are two things I want to point out here.

One, a fashion designer will patronise only a sewing materials shop. That is a place where he or she can find the right materials for his work. As far as he is concerned, he has no business in a building material shop.

Materials in this shop are not relevant to his vocation. No matter how good the qualities of these materials are, they are not fit nor proper for his work.

It is only those who are builders that will patronise a building materials place. Contrarily, he has nothing to do with a fashion designer materials because they are not relevant to his needs.

So it is with marriage. A woman who is does not desire and prepare to have a stable and happy home will not value a husband material, no matter how good he may be. Where the man has no faults, she will create one. It is a golden opportunity for her where the man has one weakness. She will exaggerate and concentrate on this weak point to condemn him until she ruins him.

Note well that as a master builder, it takes wisdom to build a house. It is possible to have a very good, standard building materials in right quality and quantity but fail to put a beautiful structure in place. To possess right quality and quantity of material in place does not mean a strong and standard house will be built.

Thererefore, it takes knowing the good quality of building materials and having the wisdom and expertise, to put a strong structure in place. Both must be available to rejoice over a house built.

Can you identify a husband material? Let me not fail to inform you that there are inferior husband materials in relationship market. You must know and recognise the right quality husband material if you see one. Some of the qualities of inferior quality material is deceit, lying, pretence and instability in all his ways. May you not be a victim of such inferior husband materials in Jesus name. Let me sound a not of warning here before I round it up that you must tame your desires. Do not see money and material possessions as the main or only things to consider in a man to be "a husband material". He may not have these things now but has the potential to have them tomorrow. Stay blessed and prepared for Christ's coming.
