STATUS SQUO AND THE NEW YEAR.

by Olawale Ogunsola
1/22/2021 / Christian Apologetics

"The status quo or statu quo is a Latin Phrase meaning the state of affairs, particularly with regard to social or political issues." To maintain the status quo is to keep things the way they presently are " Wikipedia.

An author rightly puts it this way," status quo is the mess we are in now. "I think he is not wrong at all marrying it with the meaning stated earlier. This common phrase does not related to social or political issues only, it embraces every facet of human endeavour.

A society, family or individuals can be or have a state of affairs at a particular time. In other words, it can be in a mess at any point in time, no exception. Time and tide change. One thing that is constant in life is change itself. That is the reason why "to maintain the statu quo" must be for a season, no matter the situation. So it is better for an individual to plan deliberately well the right and appropriate direction he wants things to go. He must prepare in advance for how he wants to cope with new things to be brought forth or for any new experience.

Year 2020 has drawn to a close, and a new year is has come, have you taken the time to review the "mess" you were, in any sense of the word? Do you want to maintain the statu quo for more days, weeks, months or even years? How do you think things will be in the first six months of this new year 2021 if you maintain the current mess you are in? What will it look like by this time next year? Will you be pleased? It is very doubtful! You must prepare to change or to experience a change. If you do not, you will find out that you will be forced by circumstances to experience a new change, which may or may not be in your favor.

For example, a reasonable percentage of people on the face of the planet, earth, never conceived changing their statu quo before the advent of internet. However, whether they like it or not, it affects their circumstances in one way or the other. The eagles among mankind do not fear the storm of life. They are always prepared to embrace it and turn it around for their optimal advantage.

How prepared are you for the new year? What are the steps you intend to take to change the statu quo in your life? You cannot afford to "resign" to fate or what life has to offer you, doing nothing. It is important that you seek and pursue everything, by legal means, that will change you present circumstances. Do you know what? It is certain that you can do it successfully. People have achieved it before, certain people are doing it now while others will still do. Why don't you attempt to change the mess you are in?

By the end time of last year, so many people are involved in what is called a New Year Resolution to experience positive changes in this new year. Do you know what? A group among these people are "wishful thinkers". Their New Year Resolution is never a serious matter to them. They are not in any way prepared to pursue it with vigour. To this group of people before the End of the first quarter of new year, everything they have resolved to do or not to do would have collapsed without repairs.

On the other hand, the serious group will not leave any stone unturned until they finally and thoroughly execute their New Year Resolutions for positive changes and experiences. The people in this group, a reasonable percentage of them realised that doing this easily and profitably is not attainable by their hand of flesh but by the help of the Spirit of God in their lives, Zechariah 4:6. They appreciate and embrace Christ's declaration, in John 15:4-5,
"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruits it is served from the vine and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. " (NLT)

Do you want your situation or circumstances to change for the better? Please, know and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. Let Him be your friend indeed forever because you cannot regret doing this. Whatever may be your current mess, He has the authority and power (Matthew 28:18) to turn everything around for the better.

He assures you in Isaiah 43:18,
"For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wildernesses. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland."(NLT).

With the help of Jesus Christ, you can change the status quo that exists in your life. Only obey His instructions. He will never leave nor forsake you no matter the circumstances.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
