WHAT IS LOVE

by Lupie Riley
2/06/2021 / Christian Living

Thought:  There are different kinds of love.  Love for your spouse, love for your children, love for a friend or neighbor, but the agape love is a spiritual love that comes from God.  That kind of love was demonstrated when God put on the flesh of a human, became like us through the God/man Jesus.  GOD IS LOVE.

He also commands us to love one another as he loves us (John 3:16).  Because of this agape love, the God/man took upon himself the sins of all mankind and paid the price with His own life.  He didn’t stop there.  He arose from the dead, defeating death that Satan had brought upon the whole world.  Our Salvation will be complete when we receive our new body that will last forever, like the body Jesus had after resurrection.  He barbequed fish for the disciples, walked through walls and fellowshipped with them for 40 days and rose up into the sky at His ascension.

Here’s some words from God’s book that will further clarify what true love is all about.

I Cor. 13:4-5 “Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude.  Love does not demand its own way.  It is not irritable or touchy.  It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong.  It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. “

I John 4:16 “We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love and because we believe him when he tells us that he loves us dearly.  God is love, and anyone who lives in love is living with God and God is living in him.”

John 15:12 “I demand that you love each other as much as I love you.”

Romans 13:10  “Love does no wrong to anyone.  That’s why it fully satisfies all of God’s requirements.  It is the only law you need.”

Note:  If we would just follow this law there would be no war’s, murders, hate, jealousy, or strife because we would not want to harm each other.

Prayer:  Father God, help me to grow closer to you each day you give me breath so I can become more and more like Jesus.  Amen

Verse:  I John 4:7-8 “ Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God, and  that they are getting to know him better.  But if a person isn’t loving and kind, it shows that he doesn’t know God—for GOD IS LOVE.”
