Post Resurrection Blessings And Authority Of Lord Jesus Christ

by Ngozi Nwoke

What do you stand to gain from the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ? Truly, the purpose of Christ's coming to earth is what we will gain after His resurrection, which is the salvation of our souls. However, we also have post resurrection blessings and authority of Lord Jesus Christ available to us.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen - Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV).

Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me - Luke 24:44 (NKJV).

To whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God - Acts 1:3 (NKJV).

Introduction

Our Lord Jesus Christ went as were prophesied by the prophets. And all things were fulfilled as said concerning Him. Also, He suffered as said and now He has entered into His glory (Luke 24:26). These show that Jesus is really the Christ and the son of God (John 20:31). And that any other thing yet to be fulfilled concerning Him will surely come to pass too.

Now, after the resurrection, Jesus showed Himself and communed with the disciples many days before ascending into heaven. And during this period He taught and gave them instructions, which are relevant to us also.

Post Resurrection Blessings And Authority Of Lord Jesus Christ

1. Those who tarry longer see Jesus

When Peter, John, and Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of Christ, only Mary got to see Jesus there. This is because she waited longer than the other two persons. And she ended up being the first to see Jesus after the resurrection. Therefore, the longer you tarry in God's presence, in the word and prayer, the more you encounter the Son.

Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (Which is to say, Teacher) - John 20:14, 16 (NKJV).

2. Peace Be Unto You

The disciples gathered in one place for the fear of the Jews. And when the Prince of peace entered into their midst, He pronounced peace unto them. This He did each time He visited them after the resurrection. And by this pronouncement, he cancelled or dissolved every storm, fear, or disturbance in them. So, if you have Christ in you so also do you have the peace of God in you. Therefore, at this time, you need to receive the peace that Jesus has given you and be at rest.

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you." - John 20:19 (NKJV).

3. The Promise Of The Holy Spirit

You can only maximize the post resurrection blessings with the help of the Holy Spirit. So, Christ asked His disciples not to step out without the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This came upon them with the evidence of speaking in tongues. So, the Spirit of God endures you with the power to operate effectively with great results as a child of God. This empowerment Jesus sent after He ascended into heaven.

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high - Luke 24:49 NKJV).

4. Opened understanding

While Jesus was with the disciples they did not understand the scriptures and didn't notice that Jesus was fulfilling scriptures concerning Him. This was also the case after He rose up. However, before ascending into heaven, Christ opened their understanding to comprehend the scriptures. So, also, when you accept and believe in the risen Christ, your understanding is also opened.

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures - Luke 24:45 (NKJV).

5. As My Father Has Sent Me, Even So Send I You

As Christ was getting ready to ascend and make way for the Holy Spirit to come, He released the disciples as the Father released Him. He sent them to represent Him on earth. And just like the Father sent Him with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit so also He sent the disciples. Also, all the authority God gave Him, He gave to the disciples. So, you're not exempted from this release; as Christ sent the disciples even so has He sent you.

So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you - John 20:21 (NKJV).

6. The Great Commission

So, Jesus sent us out, as His disciples with the great commission, to make disciples of many others. And we're to preach repentance and remission of sins and to teach them to observe all that Christ commanded. For, this is the heartbeat of God: that all men may come unto repentance. Therefore, embrace the post resurrection commission and go out and win souls for Christ.

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem - Luke 24:47 (NKJV).

7. The Signs That Follow Believers

The Lord has given us the authority to do exploit in His name. These include casting out demons, speaking with new tongues, and not being hurt by anything. Also, we will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. Surely, Jesus will be with us and back us up even to the end of the age. Therefore, be courageous and step out in the name of Christ, declaring His good news.

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover - Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV).

Conclusion

Easter celebration indeed is a celebration of victory won, purchased by the blood of Jesus. For Christ is alive and is ever with us to win even as He won against the enemy. And this authority has He given to us to exercise on His behalf. Therefore, go forth with these post resurrection blessings and authority of Lord Jesus Christ, and use them to do exploit.
