LIVING WITH PAIN

Thought:  How many of us live in pain every day?  For some, it becomes part of their life and for others, they might be fortunate enough they might find some relief.

What do we learn from these experiences?  For one we learn to be compassionate towards those who are in the same circumstance.  As a believer, how do you process pain?  I go back to Paul’s situation when he prayed three times for his affliction to be healed.  The Lord answered with these words; “No, but I am with you; that is all you need.  My power shows up best in weak people.”

Why?  Because we depend on him and not on our own abilities.

I have been prayed over with oil for healing without the results I wanted, and some would excuse it off as not having enough faith.  God answers prayer three ways: Yes, No and Wait.  We could be in that waiting period, trusting the Lord for answers.  As a believer our Salvation did not come with a guarantee that we’d escape life’s problems.  In fact, problems allow us to grow up in faith and become more and more like Jesus. He knows all about pain.  As he hung on the cross, he was in excruciating pain because of His love for you and me.  He took upon himself what we deserved and paid the price for our sin.  Then he went on to forgive his enemies

If you are in that waiting period, rest in the Lord.  He knows all about you and hears your prayers. That’s the time we need to look ahead and claim his promise for a better life in the future.  No more pain, no more tears, no more heartaches because we will be in those new bodies that never die.  We may go through trials and tribulation in this life, but our future is secure in God’s promises.  Three things we can do while were waiting for answers:  Draw from Jesus strength, look to that bright future and trust, trust, trust.  He is the giver of peace, and you will find comfort in Him.  We will make it through this and come out winning in the end.

Prayer:  Father God, when we go through these trials you are our strength.  I can do all things through you.  Amen

Verse:  Heb. 2:14-18 “Since we, God’s children, are human beings—made of flesh and blood—he became flesh and blood too by being born in human form, for only as a human being could he die and in dying break the power of the devil who had the power of death.  Only in that way could he deliver those who through fear of death have been living all their lives as slaves to constant dread.  We all know he did not come as an Angel but as a human being—yes, a Jew.  And it was necessary for Jesus to be like us, his brothers, (and sisters) so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God, a Priest who would be both merciful to us and faithful to God in dealing with the sins of the people.  For since he himself has now been through suffering and temptation, he knows what it is like when we suffer and are tempted, and he is wonderfully able to help
