A person’s last name can hold clues to their family tree.

Let’s brainstorm.

Banks might reveal a banker as an ancestor. Taylor, farmer and baker are self explanatory. It would be fascinating to trace the family history of someone with castle as their surname.

My mother sent away for a copy of our Ford coat of arms and family crest. There we learned that the name of Ford is derived from Fort. 

I know my father’s family had English and Irish heritage. Maybe one of my great, great, great, great grandfathers was a guard at a British Fort. That would really be something; Dad retired as a General Electric security guard!

“For this reason I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth,  and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:14-21 NASB).” 

Glory to God.

He reigns in this generation and in all those that follow.
